  • Nature abstract painting. This weekend I was out in the Hajar Mountains , it is about an hour and half drive from Dubai city . here is what i call magic of nature , to me this is just God being an artist , we all can learn something from That. / these Mountains have many layers as you can see , millions of years old , and each layer only about 6 cm deep. Simply amazing what i Personally learn from Nature.it does not get better than this for me . / I kept the colors the textures the same as they are no playing around with Photoshop here.

  • Ra’s al-Jinz – Oman / Marine turtle going back to the sea at dawn, after a hard night spent delivering her eggs in the sand. / Actually this one was saved from a certain death as she got stuck between rocks on the beach during the operation. She would have dried to death under the sun if we hadn’t come early to watch the sunrise, found her desperately trying to escape, and pulled her backwards from the rocks. She rushed back to the sea before the sun came too high and hot, but thanksfully – I believe indeed… – allowed us to shoot her on her way with a beautiful light.

  • Seeing as there seems to be some interest in the generic background I posted earlier, I thought this one might be of interest also. It was created for a WWF FDC issue for Oman, featuring the Arabian Leopard that I did a few years ago, and was the first ‘generic’ background I did. The WWF don’t often provide ‘location shots’ but when they do, I nearly always paint it separately and use it in this way, (even if it’s the incorrect location, as it was recently when they provided a great location shot for a Maldives issue….which actually showed Polynesia… which is volcanic…and the Maldives isn’t…Whoops). Anyway, back to this one. The 4 FDC artworks for which this was painted are already up on RB and so you might like to seek them out just to see how this bg was used. The first thing you will notice is that you can hardly see any of it in any of them, which will probably make you think’ Why spend all that time (about 2 days) painting something that you won’t see?’ Yet another good question and one that I can only answer with ‘Because I felt like it’. Not what you would call ‘good business sense’! However, should I be asked to paint something else from Oman, I now have a great background I can use again, ( like I will with the Polynesian one) so there is SOME method in my madness…
