I was nine…............. / do you recognize me.. ? This one is dedicated to my dear beloved cousin Iris. I have tears in my eyes. for she is the only one who has come to my begging my family to come and join the fun on RB.. she doesnt have a site yet. but she is out there commenting lol!.. if you see her ., you just might only see her for now in my pics…..and she just might start wandering around leaving the cutest and feeling comments. and she might leave you with a poem her name is “hapyfeet5”.. lol! The year. 1967. The worlds fair in NYC!!!.. wow. what a time we had. this was Easter Sunday of that year. and we were proudly displaying polyester spring coats and patten leather shoes… our hats. oh dear…. my sister Annie is there …...dreamy , beautiful Annie. the one in the middle is my friend whom had such a hard life, it was difficult to understand. her mom had eight children, and Socorro, pictured here was the youngest. All children were fighters in gangs, and drinker and yellers. Mom was a saint whom prayed all day long and cooked and worked in a factory . How her children would be so ungrateful, yelling at her was always a mystery to me. We never yelled at mom, and if we did, we would get what was called a “cocotazo”.. that meant that moms knuckle would hit our head with a bang.. there was no question about it. The car you see we are on , was a humorous expo that was for portraits… lol!.. at the lobby of Chevrolet!. the company that we were visiting when mom decided we needed a relic…...... a moment to remember where we all were. she couldnt believe it herself. Mom was the type whom never had money.. but she would always take us to special places, she made sure of it. and she would remind us of these places, by telling us stories. because of this picture, I remember the expo of 1967 in NYC ..and in particular the Chrysler Exposition . where we got to ride a car as if we were driving. what a sensation! wooooooo ho !.. this was so cool . oh, and by the way. mom knew socorro and her mom would never be able to afford to go, so mom made sure somehow she was going to take my friend somewhere special . And this was one of the many places we went to . and to Boot!: mom wrote her note on it!.. “here we are with our beloved Socorro, in the worlds fair on easter Sunday 1967
