The tree shed its bark to make way for the growth of another year / /
This one is a bit older than some of the stuff I’ve put up here so far. It was done a couple of years ago for a book titled “The Big Coat.” (Not exactly my best writing.) Despite the story not exactly standing the test of time I think this piece still holds up fairly well. No? Okay, maybe not, but could you at least pretend that it’s fantastic? Pretty please? Pretty please with sugar on top? Pretty please with sugar and a fresh, crisp new fifty dollar bill on top?
‘It’s all over for us’ / Two 40 something women in my class cried… / ‘No it’s just beginning’ I replied / ‘Your 40’s and 50’s are the best…

Not the usual subject at Dog Rocks, this larger (& older I assume) tree is down on the west side of the rise. I was amazed to see it in bloom in the middle of winter (24 July). / Photograph taken at dawn.
Older black female Pekingese with tongue sticking out. Whittney Houston is our fourteen year old Pekingese we have had her since she was a puppy.
The elderly version!
Today was my younger brother’s birthday, he’s now 20 years old! Since he lives with me I decided to throw him a little party..Bonnie was having lots of fun getting so much attention from his friends and playing with the balloons .
For my mom… The sun is rising, east of a woman’s freshly emancipated soul. With sheer delight she will watch her new freedom rise and grow strong, carrying her accross the ocean of her life. Eagerly riding the tides, she will brave strong currents and beautiful agitated seas, fighting her way through occasional storms, tasting the salt of life, and collecting a wealth of souvenirs and precious lessons along the way. Once on the west side of her existence, the time when she will be able to look back peacefully upon her itinerary will grow near. The emancipation will then be complete, after slowly unfolding over a lifetime. Respite will appear in the guise of serenity and of a well deserved inner peace. A life of emancipation and metamorphosis, in a changing world. The photos used in this image are all mine, except for the one of my young mom at 19, obviously. I used the following photos: Mom / Early magic / Regal Butterfly / Here Comes The Sun / / It is my first attempt at creating a composite image, using several layers in Photoshop and blending them in overlay or soft-light mode. Levels, curves, gradient maps and channel mixers adjustment layers were also used to tweak the image a bit. Drop shadows were added to the two portrait cutouts to soften the edges and procure a little bit of depth. we all grow older…we all age… i’m 31 and i’m starting to see it. Just a bit. Time to get exercising, drink my water and eat better. Must fight the inevitable… can you guess what i’m reflected in? Nikon d80
A cool shot of a Great Blue Heron standing motionless by the bank of a stream nearby to my house in Texas. His detail and colors are striking against the backdrop of dead vegetation brought on by “Old Man Winters” cold touch.

Perched atop a lone snag, this older bald eagle scans the ground below, offering a different perspective from what is usually seen on RB and on other photo sites. This image was captured on Vancouver Island in Canada’s western most province, British Columbia using a Nikon D300, with a Nikkor f4 600 mm lens and 1:4 teleconverter (840 mm) mounted on a large Gitzo tripod, ISO 400, f13, 1/1000s. Information on the Bald Eagle from Wikipedia: The Bald Eagle is a large bird, with a body length of 71–106 cm (28–42 in), a wingspan of 183–234 cm, (72–96 in), and a mass of 3–7 kg (6.6–15.5 lb); females are about 25 percent larger than males.2 The adult Bald Eagle has a brown body with a white head and tail, and bright yellow irises, taloned feet, and a hooked beak; juveniles are completely brown except for the yellow feet. Males and females are identical in plumage coloration. Its diet consists mainly of fish, but it is an opportunistic feeder. It hunts fish by swooping down and snatching the fish out of the water with its talons. It is sexually mature at four years or five years of age. In the wild, Bald Eagles can live up to thirty years, and often survive longer in captivity.[4] The Bald Eagle builds the largest nest of any North American bird, up to 4 meters (13 ft) deep, 2.5 meters (8 ft) wide, and one tonne (1.1 tons) in weight.[2]
