  • An orthodox Jew is praying at the western wall in Jerusalem. The wall also known as the wailing wall or the “Kotel” is the most sacred and holy place for jews. This is the last remaining wall from the old temple that was destroyed over 2000 years ago. This person is using the old testament bible. The black outfit is typical to the orthodox jews. • FULL VIEW PLEASE** This shot of Cottesloe Beach in Western Australia was from early this morning at Sunrise. It is another favourite place of mine in WA and I wanted to catch get an image of it at sunrise . I took several attempts trying to find a good angle and right exposure to capture the indain tea house (building on the left) and the ocean . In the end this was my favourite out of the lot , I really liked the movment in the water , gave the photo a really nice feel . It was a pitty there was so much foot prints in the sand as i got to the beach at 04:30am and there were a few people down the beach already . This was 3 shots stitched in Photoshop to make this panorama . / I found this one difficult becuase the light changed a lot from each shot eventhought i was shooting in manual mode .

  • This was another shot from the other day at Sunset. I really wanted to bring out the amazing colors of the sunset and shooting directly at the sun was hard to get a good exposure especially with the standard canon kit lens I was getting a fair bit of lens flare (Cant wait till I my Sigma 10 -20 mm lens). So I bracketed 3 different exposures all 2 stops apart. I used a cokin ND grad filter to try to keep some of the color in the fore ground. / I really liked the contrasting colors in this shot and the tree made a nice Silhouette I then used Photomatrix pro to convert the 3 images into a HDR . Final curves and sat were done in PhotoShop.

It was -20F, and I had to lie in the snow, waiting for that instant. It lasted … a few seconds … and then … it was over. After all that suffering, I was suddenly stricken by the realization that carrying the now-frozen lamp back into the warm house would put at terrible risk of breaking …. my departed mother’s hundred-year-old lamp! Oh, sure! A rational person would have just PhotoShopped something. But NO! I wanted my vision to be authentic …. yet …. eventually conceded to add the foreground grass. I was not about to go back out and try it again. / (Maybe come summer. ;p) / Graveyard Jewel * / Canon 350D EOS / Canon 18/55mm JASC Paintshop Pro x7 and PhotoImpact x3
