taken in Quilty, Co. Clare. This would have been such a fabulous house. From where i took the shot, about 5 steps back and i would have been standing on the sand of a long, empty beatiful beach!

This is the side of my Opa’s old barn in Ontario, Canada. I was at a family reunion in late June ‘09 and walked around the old Hielema farm looking for some memories. The property is now owned by my uncle. Black & white conversion done in PS CS4. Layer duplicated and mixed using Hard Light blending mode to give it a bit more edge. The original was really flat light – full shade.

Sadly, it burned down in 08, believed to be set on fire by the owners for insurance money but it could have also been kids. I’m sad I never got back here for more shots. I was barely learning how to use a camera when I took these. Taken with an Olympus FE-120
