  • Stonehenge at Sunset, please excuse the fence.

  • Passed by this one in Cornwall, UK last time I was visiting my birthplace, St Ives.

  • Black and white photo with old red phone box, picture taken in the yorkshire sculpture park.

  • Another in my series of the Old General Hospital. This is of the interior hallway leading into the bowels of the sinister and dark sanitorium. I didn’ t have a flashlight becasue this was spur of the moment. So I had to use my camera flash to illuminate the long dark hallways that have many rooms and other halls leading from this main corridor. I crept along hugging the wall working my way deeper into the dungeon like structure. My imagination was going wild as I visualized the scenes of countless horror movies and their macabre scenes. I could almost feel the horror of its previous occupants as the darkness enveloped me; yet I dared go a little further just to get that picture of what lay beyond… / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

  • Another shot of a section of Catlerigg Stone Circle.. I like the shapes and textures of the stones, especially with the setting sun behind them. MY OLD STANDING STONES SET

  • Old Farm house in Blacker hill, just down the road from us, never knew this place existed until my good friend Andy Harris, stumbled across it last week purely by accident!, so we went down today for an explore.

  • Princeton, NJ – May 2008 – Color Version

  • Abandoned Victorian summerhouse. I desaturated the original somewhat, then played about with contrast, colour filters and blending modes to bring outthe character of the building. I use PhotoImpact. This was taken on a Nikon d50.

  • This was taken on the road between the villages of Foolow and Eyam in the Derbyshire Peak District. I used to live and work in Eyam and I know this road very well. It is beautiful any time, but particularly on this morning with the mist behind. It gives a very erie feeling to the scene. I love the colour of the stones and the textures. • watercolor painting / 300g / 30cm x 21cm

  • I know this looks like a collage of different windows..but actually it is the front of a abandoned factory..one set of windows, with all sorts of reflections ..all I did was add a bit of texture and lighting to it.. Nikon D90 / 18-200mm VR Lense

  • The 12 Apostles just off the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. This one was taken just minutes after the Panorama and only minutes later the stormy weather hit where I was standing and it was a quick retreat back to the car. / Settings Canon 40D, 17-85mm IS. • A Winter afternoon taken from the rooftop of the St Emilion Cathedral, overlooking the town rooftops. Featured in The Postcards Style Group 16.4.09

  • This shot was taken on the historic Columbia Highway (Oregon) near Latourell Falls. The mosses there are almost fluorescent in the filtered sun of a rainy day and sing a wonderful counterpoint to the stark and strong angularity of the bridge work. What an interesting symphony of angles and curves, softness and solidity. FEATURED in the Live, Love, Dream group / Please visit my bubblesite. • Dubrovnik Old Town is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1979. / Dubrovnik’s Bokar Fortress. Taken August 2007 as everyone had fled the Old Town one Summer’s evening, as fires menaced the city’s edge. The colors were eerie in their beauty. / Serving the purpose of protecting the Pile moat and entrance to the Old Town, and as store of ammunition and smaller canon, it is located as this photo shows, right on the sea. Original construction commenced in 1461, and function in artillery exercises commenced as early as 1463, though later plans by Michelozzo in 1570 determined its final appearance. In modern times, like many of the other impressive fortresses, Bokar serves as a unique venue for Summer Festival classics and performances.

  • FEATURED SEPT 2009 FOUNTAINS / This beautiful fountain of Onofrio sits at one end of the main street of the Old Town in Dubrovnik. It is shown here strangely deserted, except for the lonely pigeon taking harbour there on the cool Autumn day. / / A smaller fountain by Onofrio is situated at the opposite end of the mainstreet of the Old Town. / In summer, both the Onofrio Fountains as anyone who has visited will know, is one of the popular hubs in the Old Town. A meeting place. A place to rest and refresh. A place where fancy minstrels will strum their songs of yesteryear. This sixteen-sided fountain was completed in 1438, conveying water to the Old Town from 12 miles away. It was an architectural and engineering achievement for its time. Heavily damaged in the Earthquake of 1667, and again in the war of independence in 1991, the fountain has been restored each time to its original splendor, and is one of innumerable treatises of the rock-hard determination and resilience of the proud people of Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik Old Town, has been listed since 1979 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland is one of the most recognised and loved castles in all of England and Europe. The site where the castle now stands was previously home to a fort of the native Britons known as Din Guarie and it “may have been the capital of the British kingdom of the region from the realm’s foundation in c.420 until 547, the year of the first written reference to the castle. In that year the citadel was captured by the Anglo-Saxon ruler Ida of Bernicia (Beornice) and became Ida’s seat. It was briefly retaken by the Britons from his son Hussa during the war of 590 before being relieved later the same year.” It was his grandson who then gave it to his wife Bebba. This is where we get the early name Bebanburgh, the basis of its name today. The original fortification was destroyed by the Vikings in 993. “The Normans built a new castle on the site, which forms the core of the present one.” The castle is built on a core of basalt, a grey or black volcanic rock, recognisable by the geometric patterns it forms when it quickly cools on the earth’s surface, which means it is built on a very sure foundation. The beauty of this castle stands out for miles. Standing here, there is something so romantic about the fluid tall grass blowing in the breeze, and the strong structure, withstanding the onslaught of natures forces. You can take tours of this lovely old Castle, and the grounds are open to enjoy. The castle has it’s own preservation group and is self sustained. Images of the castle have been taken and published by English Heritage, though it has nothing else to do with the property. This is a HDR image combining 6 bracketed shots using Photomatix Pro for Macs. Slight adjustments in lighting and contrast were made using the enhanced details tool. Canon EOS-1Ds Mark ll / 28-300mm IS zoom lens / f/22 / 1/30, 1/60, 1/80, 1/125, 1/250, 1/400 / ISO 125
