This is my first “request” – thanks Cathleen. I used to love this station, but the powers-that-be decided Blyth didn’t need the railways any more. Since then, a fantastic Metro train network has been created in Northumberland and Tyne & Wear and guess which town is left out because we no longer have rail tracks. I did an earlier version of this picture, on which this is based. Here it is:
A thundering of hooves heralded the horse herd running over the hill towards us in the pre-dawn light on Old Yabba Station.

Whilst competing in a Rogaine in SW Western Australia my mate and I stumbled upon a deserted farmhouse and out buildings. Because we were camping overnight in roughly the same area I managed to get back the next morning to get a few shots. I only hope I can find my way back there as there are lots of shots to be made.

The old lifeboat station at the Lizard point served the area well from 1914 till it’s closure in the early sixties, the current one is just a short way round the coast. The Lizard Point is the most Southerly point on the UK mainland and is notorious for treacherous seas, with many outcrops of jagged rocks, many ships have been wrecked at this point during a storm. Quite a contrast when we see it on such a calm and beautiful Summer’s day like I enjoyed on my recent holiday in Cornwall.
