I drove by this old barn often on my way to visit my patient in Gatineau (on the Quebec side but just a few minutes from Ottawa) and today I decided to stop and talk to the farmer. She said that although the new barn was built long time ago, some of her cows still wander in there from time to time. :)

If you haven’t recently had a child learning to read, the title may not seem so clever to you. But trust me—it’s awesome. :) I didn’t tweak the saturation levels on this; this old building just seems to absorb more color when it’s cold and snowy.

I went back and visited my favorite old tree along a dirt (snow-covered now) road. It has weathered many seasons.. Snow was falling off the far branch when this was taken… it looked like diamonds sparkling in the morning sunlight.

This is the old logging road off of Betts Branch Rd. After the loggers left it was used as a roadside trash dump and then cleaned up a little. People now use it for hunting and four wheeling. I’ve been up it a few times myself on a dirtbike and my old jeep. About five hundred feet up there is a beutiful lake where my son likes to fish. Thanks for looking.

This old fence, on a road to my house, always catches my eye for a photo. I’ve tried many times for the right shot, and finally I like this one. I thought the PS filter Bordermania – Elipse treatment looked good here. I also like the rays of the sun on the snow, and the sparkles. A PERSPECTIVE ABOUT OLD BARNS / He said,” you couldn’t get paint that beautiful”, for a new country home he’s building down the road. Only years of standing in the weather, bearing the storms and scorching sun, only that can produce beautiful barn wood. / It came to me then. We’re a lot like that, you and I. / Only it’s on the inside that the beauty grows with us. / Sure we turn silver gray too… and lean a bit more than we did when we were young and full of sap. / But the Good Lord knows what He’s doing. / And as the years pass He’s busy using the hard weather of our lives, / The dry spells and the stormy seasons do a job of beautifying our souls that nothing else can produce. / And to think how often folks holler because they want life easy!
