Well, I almost ditch my truck to get that picture today…Beautiful afternoon, Back from the community where I drove one of my staff that has been working for 35 days, pull over on the shoulder, didn’t realise how far, and ditch the front wheel in the snow…thanks god I drive a 4×4 otherwise I’ld still be there waiting, freezing and hoping to get a ride…

Despite looking picture perfect and (almost) nice enough for a swim, the waters of Lake Eucumbene can be freezing, with calmer sections of the lake icing over in the winter. On this day, in July 2006, despite the clear skies, the air temperature was only 4 degrees Celcius.
