I’m on vacation right now and Ferdinand is probably wondering where I am,each time I work I look for fresh fruits everywhere, his fav.peaches, pears and plums, sometimes I go downstairs at the cafeteria to beg for some….Everytimes he says «écoute la petite, what would you like me to buy for you ,tell me »and I say «nothing» ,he answers «They don’t have that in the stores»I t’s like a ritual …a few weeks ago ,her greatgrandaugther was hit by a drunk driver,20 years old,I though we where gonna loose him,Ferdinand was such in pain and sad,he didn’t want to eat or smile..Hopefully everybody went to talk to him very often ,he had more fruits… he told me last week that the girl was out of the coma and started to talk a little.Last month,I took his picture and told him that everybody said he was a handsome man.I explained to him that his portrait was all over the world…..«I didn’t even comb my hair » he said,it was funny.Mr Ferdinand is 95 years old ,he walks slowly and do everything by himself, never disturbing and always acting like a gentleman .A few women are after him but his wife died 6 months ago and he loved her so much ,I knew her ,a very funny lady. She was alzeimer.I hope he will be okay until I come back…Gigi Since I upload that pic,Ferdinand was told that he was gona die in a month or so due to his sick kidneys.Don’t ask me why the doctor told him I had never understood that part….He past away after 6 months of sufferring…thank you for taking the time

This is a mod I made of my daughter using Photoshop CS2 and Photo Booth. This is my spin on what our mothers used to tell us (don’t make faces or it might stay that way)...lol

I found this photo amongst all my parents old albums and found out the little boy is actually my dad! I played around with it in photoshop and added a few bits and pieces to revamp the old shot as a new artwork. - Updated 1/02/08

June 26th How excited I am! Tomorrow is my birthday, and my sisters have told me that Papa will be arriving first thing, and that he has a very special treat in store for me. Naturally since learning of this, I have been at pains to discover what awaits me. Yet to my utter dismay, when I try to interrogate my sisters , they will only say that they are sworn to secrecy, then glance at one another and burst into infuriating giggles. I feel that if I am to succeed in my endeavour to extract the necessary information before morning, I must first get to each of them separately, then use all the cunning and ingenuity inherited from my beloved father. What springs immediately to mind, is to adopt the guile of one of Nature’s predators and pursue the weaker of the pack. Knowing as I do of Audrey’s great fondness for fruit bonbons, I shall arm myself with said items, and make my way to her bedchamber this very evening. Let us see how long her lips remain sealed when such delightful confection is offered in exchange for her secrets!
This is an image created to illustrate an environmental portrait of an old camera called a “speed graphic”... the whole scene is meant to tell a story of a time when this camera was in use. I hope you enjoy this marvelous piece of photographic history. Here are some beautifully fitting words by Wayne Cook It’s setting atop my desk, / Bit dusty, but the bellows are still pliable, / Haven’t shot anything in it, / More than 20 years, / Maybe 30…. / Oh, but the negs…. / Glorious things, / Like still nuggets in reverse / I’d shine that enlarger through one…. / Whew…. those celluloids, / Never lost my awe, / The figures almost came to life, / There on the table. / Something about that lifeless frame, / I swear it moves when I turn my back. / Breaks my heart to leave it lay, / But the film…oh, god, it breaks the bank!
Enjoy!! _

An intrigued Black Lahu elder, and his amused friend, looks at his portrait for the first time. This picture was taken on film in 1979 in a remote village far from a road in Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. The old man had not only never seen a photograph before, he had never been to a town, ridden in a car or seen a westerner. He asked me if I had come from the moon, as he had seen planes fly overhead.

FEATURED DEC 2009 MUSIC INSPIRED ART / FEATURED DEC 2009 INSPIRED ART / FEATURED AUG 2009 THE FAMILY ALBUM / Mon Oncle Celestino. Photo taken in Vancouver 1964. That’s the bus to Granville behind him. This shot is one of the more precious ones from my collection. His name means “heavenly”, but this giant still walks the Earth, tall and proud. A true survivor-turned-phoenix many times over in his fascinating journey. One of the greatest story-tellers I have ever heard, he tells the story how my Father saved his life when they were tiny little boys fleeing the soldiers. Through my life, my wonderful Uncle has taught me so much, has thrown me so many life-lines just when I needed them most. I remember my first meeting with my larger than life Uncle about four years after this shot was taken, I was 7. He taught me how to dance. We haven’t stopped dancing since. This was the song that was “our song” back then. Oh yes, I’m the great pretender / Pretending I’m doing well / My need is such / I pretend too much / I’m lonely but no one can tell Oh yes, I’m the great pretender / Adrift in a world of my own / I play the game but to my real shame / You’ve left me to dream all alone Too real is this feeling of make-believe / Too real when I feel what my heart can’t conceal Oh yes, I’m the great pretender / Just laughing and gay like a clown / I seem to be what I’m not you see / I’m wearing my heart like a crown Too real when i feel what my heart can’t conceal Oh yes, I’m the great pretender / Just laughing and gay like a clown / I seem to be what I’m not you see / I’m wearing my heart like a crown / Pretending that you’re… / Pretending that you’re still around. / ...The Platters “The Great Pretender” / I am adding this image here below, because in an insight this morning, I realized it shows my Uncle transformed as shaman into this glorious dancing bird (see the background further below) /
I took this from a bus, while traveling between Madrid and Valencia, in Spain. I have no idea what this little village is called, but it was like something out of a movie. We past several of these on the 6 hour bus trip across the country. Spain has some spectacular scenery and quaint villages that almost seem trapped in time. Layered the original image twice, adjusted contrast and tone slightly. Added a texture layer from www.deviantart.com free use stock. Layered the texture several times over, adjusting the constrast, saturation and lightness on each to vary the colour and tone. Music kindly supplied by armadillozenith These are a few of the antique books I’ve come across rummaging around second hand stores. I have wanted to capture them properly, and what better way than with the viewfinder! History 101 is the inside pages of the red book at the bottom of this shot.
