Another portrait of the octogenarian barber Tom, still working at 88.
This is the first in a series of portraits I am taking for my ‘Old Timers’ series It brings to light those who have dedicated decades to their chosen occupation, craft or trade, some by choice others through need. A trait which is rapidly diminishing in todays society where people are in constant flux between jobs, careers and hobbies. This is a salute to the Old Timers! This is Boris, a master craftsman who learnt the art of watchmaking and repairs through his father before him in Switzerland. Since emigrating to Australia mid last century he worked for others until finally establishing himself in his own premises where he has been since. An updated Bio to come soon… I hope you enjoy!
This is the second installament for my Old TImers series It brings to light those who have dedicated decades to their chosen occupation, craft or trade, some by choice others through need. A trait which is rapidly diminishing in todays society where people are in constant flux between jobs, careers and hobbies. / This is a salute to the Old Timers! This is Brett, an industrial metal polisher by trade. He has been at it for decades and is well skilled in the art of making metal shine. A real Larrakin at heart but not someone you’d want to get on the wrong side of. An updated bio to come soon… I hope you enjoy! Cheers!
Here is another image taken today. To me, converse sneakers are the epitome of youth and they never seem to go out of fashion.. My parents wore them, I wore them and now my sons and daughter are already wearing them (by the way.. these were my pair of ‘connies’ which now my son is wearing). I just liked the way they portray youth and although each generation think they are better than the last; I think fundamentally they always stay the same.
This is my dad. He’s been playing chess his whole life and he is in his 80’s now, he lives and breathes chess and that’s why I always call him chess master. When I was little he taught me to play (and insisted that I do!) and today he was teaching my oldest boy to play chess. I just had to capture it, he gets so intense and thoughtful when he plays. There is a few more in this series which I will download in the coming days.

This photo was taken in 2007 at Karnak temple (Egypt. Africa). The Karnak temple complex, universally known only as Karnak, describes a vast conglomeration of ruined temples, chapels, pylons and other buildings. It is located near Luxor in Egypt. This was ancient Egyptian Ipet-isut (“The Most Selected of Places”), the main place of worship of the Theban Triad with Amun as its head, in the monumental city of Thebes. The complex retrieves its current name from the nearby and partly surrounding modern village of el-Karnak, some 2.5km north of Luxor. / The complex is a vast open-air museum and the largest ancient religious site in the world. It is probably the second most visited historical site in Egypt, second only to the Giza Pyramids near Cairo. It consists of four main parts (precincts) of which only one is accessible for tourists and the general public. This is the Precinct of Amun-Re, and this it is also the main part of the complex and by far the largest part. The term Karnak is often understood as being the Precinct of Amun-Re only, as this is the only part most visitors normally see. The three other parts, the Precinct of Montu, the Precinct of Mut and the Temple of Amenhotep IV (dismantled), are closed to the public. There also are a few smaller temples and sanctuaries located outside the enclosing walls of the four main parts, as well as several avenues of human and ram-headed sphinxes connecting the Precinct of Mut, the Precinct of Amon-Re, and Luxor Temple. / The key difference between Karnak and most of the other temples and sites in Egypt is the length of time over which it was developed and used. Construction work began in the 16th century BC. Approximately thirty pharaohs contributed to the buildings, enabling it to reach a size, complexity, and diversity not seen elsewhere. Few of the individual features of Karnak are unique, but the size and number of features are overwhelming. Experimenting with Digital TTV ( – Not a Photoshop filter) – my first time! This is a very anonymous picture. Each of the three visible characters (dog included) are entirely personality-less, due to their backs being turned or heads obscured. And yet, the camera’s angle is facing up to the characters, from a very low angle. Draw conclusions to this as you wish.

If I could sum this up in one perfect word, it would be Ragadellic. Don’t you think? I guess one of my guilty pleasures are Chuck T’s. You just can’t get a more perfect shoe. This is the Converse Generation as they say. / Everyone takes photos of Allstars, I know, but they are a good subject, so why not? This is my first attempt of a Converse shot, and I think I did pretty well.
