  • / Tessalated Coast by Peter Martin Ok, so here’s my suggestion (feel free to ignore it) Last year I went to a wedding in Lorne on the Great Ocean Road and saw how well they accommodated a larger group. Seeing as how there are a few RedBubblers who live over that way who missed out on our Melbourne Meet Ups, I thought it might be nice to go visit. Great Ocean Road Cottages in Lorne is not only wonderfully cheap, (works out to about $50 per head or they have a backpackers on site if your want cheaper) but the people who run it are lovely and very helpful. You can make use of the electric kitchens to self cater or go to the cafes and pubs down the road. The cottages are a 2 minute walk from an IGA or 10 minute walk to the nearest pub. (Yes, they have Red Wine) / Erskine Falls Reborn by Michael Eyssens The accommodation is a series of small cottages with a queen bed downstairs and 2-3 single beds upstairs. I’d suggest that we organise ourselves into small groups of 3-5 and book a cottage for each group as they are put together. The cottages are all close enough together that it does not matter which one you are in however they are holding a few close together for us until I get back to them in a couple of days. Staying in Lorne will put us within a short drive of the otways and several lovely looking great ocean road sites if we want artistic inspiration. The cottages, while designed to sleep 4-5, are suitable to entertain a group of people and say, sprawl out a game of twister or something. I’ve called them to ensure that they have enough room for us on the night of Sat October 27th and all is good. My thinking is that we could head over early Saturday, spend a day doing bush things and a day doing beach things. What do you think? P.S – Sorry Jess for ambushing this idea!! / Lorne Pier,Victoria by Joe Mortelliti

___ / FIRST BIT OF NEWS / ___ I sold two tees Yay (one last night and one this morning!!!!!) Two Latest Designs sold (with many thanx) to beautiful fellow bubblebees Firstly, last night some time Liesl Yvette Wilson an aussie artist living in London who does gorgeous children’s illustrations (please pay her a visit !!) purchased my latest Kokeshi Doll Autumn TShirt: ...and NEXTLY, SalsBells69 a fellow bubblebee and wonderful photographer from Australia, purchased my other latest tee design Fantasy Island Retro TShirt: I have been really down lately, and these two sales have boosted my spirits enormously, a very big thank you to my two special buyers Leisl and Sal :) thanx guys! _________ NEX BIT OF NEWS * ( / i see you’re still here, thanx so much for hangin’ round for next bit) / ________ Hi fellow bubblebees, I joined red bubble community on or around about the 7th February 2008 (near on 10 weeks ago) i think :) i never know what today’s date is even tho it’s apparently right here on my computer screen…i am really a computer illiterate in many many ways (sh don’t tell anyone that lol) – my friend frozenfa knows this only too well :) Just me with a special update…for a while now I’ve ummed and ahhhed as to whether to share or not about sales and figures…when i first started bubbling i was so excited i couldn’t help but share good news…but as time’s gone by, I’ve noticed the ups and downs emotionally that we all go through over the good and bad times. I think all of us struggle terribly when no-one’s buying our work, and I’ve had an immense struggle with it myself. When no-one’s buying you think, okay, it’s all over bar the shout, i’m finished, i’m washed up, i wanna get out of this cruel game which is a roller coaster ride to say the least I’ve watched friends many times feel despairing, and I know that feeling so well. So sometimes sharing about sales and views can crush someone else’s spirit, or it can spur them on to become more and more determined to win the big prize :) I feel seeing someone else’s success does both these things to me. I’m not sure how the rest of you are going with your sales and progress, i’m told some even make close to a living from selling their work here…...I’m far from that goal ….. but we must continue to encourage one another all the more if some are feeling low and flailing, there are so many wonderful artists here, and i see they have no comments on their work, or just one and i wonder why is that? I have been so encouraged by this wonderful community and the warm sentiments fill my heart with joy and put a spring in my step, i can assure you all of that :) and I wanted to say thank you to everyone for being like, my extended family of brothers and sisters :) Anyway, I’ve been keeping quiet about sales and views for a while…..i wonder whether if you’re doing well..people will drop you off their watchlist….or if you’re doing not so well, people let you go anyway, i really don’t know…. But i try to be honest about who i am, so i’ve decided to lay it on the table today….and here are my stats :) Ten Weeks on Red Bubble art views 25,045 / clothing views 7,350 card sales 25 / tshirt sales 12 / _print sales _ 1 total sales* 38 translated $$$’s $163.48 ________ FINALE _ (if you’re still awake and stuck with me til this / point, i must applaud and congratulate and send you / big hugs and thanx :)_ ________ I’ve been very busy lately, as i was commissioned by some folks in United States to create some designs for a business proposal…don’t think i can say much more than that…but stay tuned as it could turn into something big….and that would be very cool :) thanks for listening to my guff everyone, love yas all :) big hugs from Karin xo

MY NEW RED BUBBLE GALLERY SHOP IS CALLED MIGALOOMAGIC….please don’t forget to WATCHLIST me over THERE / I’ve been busy with a new concept…. / I wanted to bring parents something special to help them connect with their children… / I am busy creating a series of digital wall art, especially for children…for their bedrooms. My new gallery on Red Bubble is called migaloomagic / So far, i only have one piece of art there….but I am excited to show you anyway!! This is a gallery which I hope will provide gifts for children, for their bedrooms, for their birthdays…...I hope that it will bring parents closer to their children by helping them remember to tell their children stories, you know – the old fashioned kind of stories….the ones you just make up on the spot….. When the kids say….’tell us a story mum/dad/aunty/uncle/guardian/carer” i hope that you as a parent will gain an inspirational thought or two, from glancing up on the wall and seeing these whales or some other little idea from my artwork…to help you along :D Hugs to all, / Karin :D

I took Harrison to the beach with me this avo. He likes to dig for buried treasure while I take photos. Today I was snapping away when I noticed 2 surfers getting out of the water and they climbed up onto some rocks right next to me and started pointing out into the water. Turns out they’d gotten out because there was a shark. We’ve had heaps of newspaper reports and news coverage about the increase in sharks on the coast lately but I never thought I’d actually see one. It must have been a big bugger too because it’s fin was clearly visible through the waves. I managed to get a couple of shots off before it disappeared. We hung around for a while after but didn’t see it again. I think the surfers went home to a nice cold beer. / / Sorry about the quality of the pic – it’s so small you can’t see much – but it was definately a shark….

I’d first like to thank Matt Tworkowski for participating in the Happy Haven Group’s 9th interview. Matt your interview was such an inspiration to me!! You could just feel your passion…….. Not just in your answers but it’s also seen in your work!! I believe that an artist’s ART work reflects so much of who they are deep inside! Much like the beauty you find deep below the waters surface!! And I thank you again for sharing your passions, amazing photography and yourself with all of us here on the redbubble. / / I’d like to first introduce you all to Matt Tworkowski. Matt is such an incredible underwater photographer. And if you have seen his work, then you know what I’m talking about. His portfolio is absolutely beautiful!!! If you haven’t seen Matt’s work I encourage you to view more of his Brilliant Portfolio by going to the link below / Matt Tworkowski The piece of work that I’ve chosen as our group avatar for the next two weeks is a piece titled: BUZZED It’s incredible and brilliant photography!! :-) / Interview Questions How long have you been an artist on the redbubble? / Approx 9 months (Sept 07) / / What country are you from? / Australia Tell us a little bit about yourself. / Needless to say I am a nature fanatic, love any type of art that captures the essence of our beautiful planet. I live in Kyneton, country Victoria, about an hour north of Melbourne. / Come from a family of 3 sisters & 1 brother all who I love dearly. / Currently employed as a plumber which has been my occupation for the last 10 years & consider it a blessing to be brought up in such an amazingly diverse country. How long have you been a photographer/artist? / Purchased my first camera about 4 years ago(about the same time I started diving) changed my view & appreciation of this amazing world we live in. What type of artwork do you enjoy creating and why? / Underwater is where my heart lies; love the connection with nature & the marine environment that photography & diving provides. My one true passion means everything to me. What is your favorite work of art in your portfolio and why? / Religious Experience-for the spiritual symbology & Buzzed for the fact that that 300 kg+ male fur seal seemed to be coming at me at 100 km/per hour & I managed to hold my nerve & get the image I had envisioned. Religious Experience / Buzzed / What has been your greatest accomplishment as an artist up to the / present date? / Have 2 images out of 12 in the running for underwater.com final drawn in July, which I consider a real honor as it hosts some of the best marine photographers in Asia Pacific, RB runner up in B&W section of their comp last year(Religious Experience) as well as publications in various dive magazines. Do you have an artist that you admire? If so who and why? / Without doubt the late Jacques Cousteau for his selfless dedication to the marine environment, Paul Watson and crew of Sea Shepherds… who I have had the rare privilege to meet and assist and Michael Aw/Mathieu Meur for their genius way of capturing the underwater realm. What are your dreams, goals and aspirations as an artist? / To promote awareness & understanding of the underwater world & perhaps make it my profession, doing what I love as much as anything… documenting the marine environment. What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you while / creating some of your artwork? / Seeing a 2 meter Potato Cod swallow the camera of a fellow diver with hand still attached, ok the reason this is funny is because the diver still has his hand & the cod didn’t find the camera very appealing & spat it out soon afterwards. Do you have an inspirational message you would like to share with other / artists? / There is always hope & salvation for us all, something that has been close to my heart recently.

MIGALOOMAGIC is my new concept gallery at Red Bubble…below are the very first offerings!...

MIGALOOMAGIC is my new concept gallery at Red Bubble…below are the very first offerings! My Definition of Magic / Adjective – Wonderful, amazing or incredible, ie as in ‘a magic moment’ I think it’s very important to define magic, as for some people this is a stumbling block and something that conjures up images of black magic, darkness, and other practices which i don’t subscribe to… for the record I’m a christian who doesn’t head to sunday services each week, although i have spent most of my life doing that, it’s not where I am at this stage of the journey….and I’m not a perfect one by any means, I’m quite an unusual one by christian standards, and many feel i don’t meet the standards, but that’s ok…God and I are like this :D we’re tight, so it doesn’t matter what others think on that score…and I guess it’s unusual for me to use the word ‘magic’ when ‘magic practices’ are forbidden in the bible… but it is the where I am coming from that matters to God…He knows I don’t mean it in that way…so already, i apologise to any who may find it offensive or inconsistent, but I intend to keep the name as to me it only implies magic in this case as “wonderful, amazing or incredible, as in a magic moment”. / migaloo-pink-magic / / migaloo-blue-magic / migaloo-in-antarctica / little-lost-orca / rainbow-orcas / little-lost-orca tshirt / Moo Cow Sunrise / Little Moo I’ve been busy with a new concept…. / I wanted to bring parents something special to help them connect with their children… / I am busy creating a series of digital wall art, especially for children…for their bedrooms. My new gallery on Red Bubble is called migaloomagic / So far, I have created six conceptual pieces of art over there….but I am excited to show you anyway!!
