Taken on Scenic Drive. Carmel, California. November, 2007. There’s an interesting story behind this photograph, and #244, “Scenic & 8th. I was in a local camera store in Carmel, the manager of the store was telling me my camera was a toy because it wasn’t a high priced SLR, like he seels in the store. Obviously this annoyed me because i knew what my camera was capable of doing. So I left the store, walked down toward the beach, saw these Cypress trees, and took these shots in about five minutes. / I then walked back up to the camera store, and showed them to the manager, and the staff. They were impressed with the quality of the images. / I love my camera! I’m using the Panasonic Lumix FZ-50 That is what I used to take almost all the photographs in my portfolio. I’m satisfied with the performance of that camera. The images speak for themselves.

This is for Mike, one of the weather guys on the Cocos Islands. Everyday we would ask him what the forecast was, and everyday he would reply “Mostly fine, chance of a shower”! I guess this was the “chance of a shower” bit! Mike is a great guy with lots of wonderful stories from his time spent living all around Australia. West Island, Cocos (keeling) Islands When the tide comes in, an awesome white beach disappears (see Infinity) and is replaced by the prettiest aqua water…rolling, rolling, rolling !! The water is only knee deep, but perfect for floating in. We spotted lots of little reef sharks around here – what a magic place they call home. This abstract image is a little part of someones garden fence! Here is some of the panels of the fence that i took close up photographs of. As you can see each panel of fence has a completly different pattern, colour and texture. I have a fair few photographs taken and I have been able to produce some fantastic pieces of art. I think it is a fantastic find!!! / Every strip of fence had been wea!ther treated, but all the strips were completly different. i took lots of pictures as there were so many fantastic different shots. The wood fence looks as if it had been coated with weather stain, then it looks like a coat of tar had been applied, then it looks like the treated areas of the fence were blistered by the sun, leaving behind a some wonderful abstract art! i think that this picture looks like the sea – sand – horizon – sky / im uploading this picture, and i may upload another. i have cropped this picture slightly. i have adjusted the brightness/ contrast/ hue and saturation a little bit also, just to bring out the brilliance of what i photographed.

Under the pier at Cowes, Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia at Dawn. Taken at the same time as Beginning of a new day for something a little bit different. It was pretty chilly, windy and way too early in the morning for me, it’s amazing how much lens distortion you get with a wide angle lens! / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. This was taken in Key West off the marina watching the sunset. It was just gorgeous with boats in the water and cameras clicking away. It’s a great place for taking pictures of quaint buildings and cruise ships docked for the day. This shot was taken before the sun came up.. I went to check out the sunrise, but a storm had blown in and there was very little colour other than blue on the eastern facing coast.. so I headed over to the west coast and took some photos at Sugar Loaf Rock.. I’m very happy I did as I just love this shot! These were the actual colours captured by the camera, I haven’t photoshoped the colours at all, I’ve just adjusted the white balance down somewhat in order to exaggerate the blue that was already there.. love this shot! 3 minute exposure @ f10, ISO100 / ND400 + ND8 + ND4Grad All comments appreciated Paul Pichugin / http://www.paulmp.com.au
