    by Karin Taylor

/ Following are the lyrics to the song Turn, Turn, Turn This group was a huge influence on me as a little girl. I adored Judith Durham and her beautiful voice and spirit. I seemed to identify with her, and they were the first group I remember loving….other songs I loved from The Seekers which would take me into a beautiful place, “I’ll Never Find Another You”, “A World of Our Own”, “The Carnival Is Over”, “Morningtown Ride”, “Georgy Girl” ),and “Emerald City” Turn! Turn! Turn! / originally written by Pete Seeger / The Byrds (cover by The Seekers later) To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to be born, a time to die / A time to plant, a time to reap / A time to kill, a time to heal / A time to laugh, a time to weep To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to build up,a time to break down / A time to dance, a time to mourn / A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time of love, a time of hate / A time of war, a time of peace / A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to gain, a time to lose / A time to rend, a time to sew / A time to love, a time to hate / A time for peace, I swear its not too late ‘Inspiration Series’ card by Karin Taylor “Seasons” is a mixed media production on thick water colour paper using ink pastel acrylic charcoal and texta, this portrayal is slightly different from the original piece in that I have added a blue background and highlights digitally. I was going to leave ‘Seasons’ open to your own interpretation, but painting this pic brought back memories of ‘The Seekers’ singing ‘There is a Season….turn, turn, turn…’. If you look closely, you can see the handwritten bible verse in tiny writing around the heads of the three :D Instead of leaving it open for interpretation, as I’m submitting this to The Healing Journey forum for a music/art competition, I will try to explain what the image depicts. This is my family and I am the hands, although the hands also represent God. The boat is a metaphor for our journey through life, and the waters are somewhat turbulent beneath, my family is being supported by myself at great cost sometimes to me personally and God is also supporting…if you like, imagine it is God’s hands super-imposed over my hands, so that I have strength to do what I am called to do, imparting a protective and nurturing boundary around my beautiful family…..making home a sanctuary, and a safe place, it is a labour of love and the weight of carrying and nurturing can be extremely heavy sometimes, but also very rewarding. There is my daughter, my son, and my husband in the boat…and the symbol of the greek cross on the vessel indicates that my family belong to Christ, and we will be Conquerors in this life and in the next, as we pass through all of life’s testing and difficulty, we will be made stronger and have our characters’ hewn and shaped, and wisdom will come as a result. Bonded together through adversity, trial, separation and togetherness, we will learn how to work together as a team to achieve harmony, joy and satisfaction…we will support one another when life’s journey becomes all too hard and we want to give up…then there will be one of us to support the one who is down….and this will be reciprocated later when the other is down….. instead of destroying one another, we will build each other up, and make each other stronger for the fight, for the journey….we will encourage one another all the more when we are failing and losing sight of our goals….we will not give up on one another…and even if the world is not interested in us, we will be interested in one another, and remember one another in prayer and thought and spirit and heart. We will cheer one another one to be courageous and to persevere, no matter life’s challenges. And through each of the seasons of life, birth, death, life, healing, laughing, dancing, moving, scattering, gathering, giving up, giving voice, mending, loving, hating, mourning…..we will stick together and support one another. The symbol is The Greek Cross which is complemented with the first and last letters of the Greek name for Jesus (IC), the first and last letters of the Greek word for Christ (XC) and the Greek word for Conqueror (NIKA). The short bars above the letters indicate that they are abbreviations. ‘There is a time for everything, / and a season for every activity under heaven: / a time to be born and a time to die, / a time to plant and a time to uproot, / a time to kill and a time to heal, / a time to tear down and a time to build, / a time to weep and a time to laugh, / a time to mourn and a time to dance, / a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, / a time to embrace and a time to refrain, / a time to search and a time to give up, / a time to keep and a time to throw away, / a time to tear and a time to mend, / a time to be silent and a time to speak, / a time to love and a time to hate, / a time for war and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

    by Kevin Kroeker

    US$6.65–US$152.00

It was a dreary and grey day today. The fog was so thick so I decided to go for a drive to one of the lighthouses. This is an old outhouse hanging over the edge of the cliff next to the lighthouse. This is what the lighthouse keeper would use to scratch that itch… lol. It’s probably about 100 feet to the ocean straight below. / / What you can’t see in the image is that behind the outhouse there is nothing but open ocean for the next 3000 miles. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / Canon 400D/XTI / 3 Shots. • Nowhere
    by Simone Byrne

    US$5.32–US$121.60

© Simone Byrne Photography, 2008. All Rights Reserved. 14th December, 2008 One of three old broken down piers at Clifton Springs on the Bellarine Peninsula. This is probably the least photographed of the three, well that I’ve seen anyway, but I rather like its narrow structure. I have always loved minimalist waterscapes and until now, without the aid of my trusty NDX400 filter, haven’t had a great deal of success, so this was my first real play with the new filter and I’m pretty happy with the result. The title kind of reflects where my life is heading at present (bad, BAD week!). Clifton Springs, Victoria, Australia Camera: Canon EOS 350D Lens: Canon 18-55mm @ focal length 46mm Exposure: 25 sec, f11, ISO 100 Filters: Hoya UV, Hoya CPL, Hoya NDX400 Processing: Adobe Photoshop CS More Images @ SimoneByrne.com.au Thanks for looking, all comments greatly appreciated, Simone.

© Simone Byrne Photography, 2008. All Rights Reserved. 29th December, 2008 One of the old piers/jetties at Clifton Springs on the Bellarine Peninsula. I like this one the best of the three as I think it has more character, the pelicans seem to agree. No sunset at all, but some lovely light and cloud made up for it. Canon 400D / Iceberg season is offically upon us for another year. This was the first Iceberg of the season for me. It was a very foggy and drizzly day, but these bergs were well worth venturing out in the weather. / / From the Northern tip of Labrador down to the eastern coast of Newfoundland, the sea that pounds and caresses these shores is nicknamed Iceberg Alley. Bergs born 10,000 years ago on the Greenland icecap dance along the coast and far out to sea, propelled unpredictably by wind and tide, tumbling, twirling, and breaking into fantastic shapes before melting in the warm waters of the gulf stream. / / An iceberg’s journey down Iceberg Alley begins once it breaks off from the edges of Greenland’s glaciers. Dropping into the ocean, it is gripped by the Labrador Current and carried through the dark ocean along the coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador. In the past, during certain times of the year, the alley has been thick with the largest and most beautiful icebergs found anywhere in the world. They glide majestically along, alone or in groups, obscuring the horizon with their tall, jagged silhouettes. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / More in this series / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography
