Carved By Nature’s Wrath / The 12 Apostles, Victoria Following a day of torrential rain and gale force winds, the sun shone momentarily, lighting up the moody sky, before plunging the rugged coastline into complete darkness. As night falls, a solitary waterfall is all that remains of the passing storms, returning the much needed rain to the swollen seas of the shipwreck coast. This image was created at the Apollo Bay Docks early in 2008, went here for a holiday just as I was getting into Photography. I went down to the docks just as a storm was rolling in and it made for some interesting weather conditions! This pic was created from one raw file. I changed the exposures in Lightroom and then merged 3 images using Photomatix, increased the blue and green saturation levels in Lightroom and added a bit of contrast. This is the result! This was captured after a rain storm, while we were on holidays at Lorne. The sky lit up as though it was on fire, with the clouds reflecting the late afternoon sun and the resulting water lying on the pier also mirrored the sky and the couta boat, docked there.

‘The Twelve Apostles’ coastline of Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia. Photographed by time exposure (for 3hrs) at night by full moon light. / It’s typically very windy along this coastline and I found that a salt covered camera and lens plus slight movement from buffeting winds makes for poor quality and blurred results. So, right weather (pretty rare), full moon, lots of time, sand bags, beanie, and ample coffee were essential. Standing here watching these huge waves crashing in through these giant cliffs was an amazing experience, the power and relentless pounding was ferocious but also incredibly hypnotic, I almost felt like I was being pulled in despite the fact that we were safely away from the real action. ‘Inspirational Series’ card by Karin Taylor Where is Red Dog is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper using ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. The original painting was inspired by the legend of ‘Red Dog’, aka ‘The Pilbara Wanderer’ of Western Australia. Red Dog was a loyal friend and stout companion to all who knew him. In this painting, the girl on the skateboard represents us in our search for love and acceptance and ‘Red Dog’ symbolises that quintessential spirit of the friend, whose love and acceptance we all yearn for.
