I am most proud of this shot so far in my short time doing photography. This image incorporates my passionate nature with my love of the ocean. I used to lobster fish with my Dad and so the ocean holds a lot of dear, and not so dear LOL, memories for me. I almost froze my hands off doing this. It was snowing a little while before I took this shot so you can imagine close to the water, with a breeze, how cold it was. However, in the name of love and romance, anything goes! LOL

© Simone Byrne Photography, 2009. All Rights Reserved. 3rd April, 2009 Point Richards jetty on the Bellarine Peninsula. I am really surprised that this image actually worked due to the extreme wind gusts that blew up just on sunset. I had to shield the tripod with my body to take this to make sure my camera wasn’t blown over. I like this image for its contrast of the impending storm above the jetty and the purity of the water below, kind of reminds me of life. I’d sooner stay below, but sometimes you have to stick your head up to see what’s coming! The white water was achieved by stacking my Cokins to give me a 5 stop ND Grad, only photoshopping here is a slight bump in contrast and saturation with curves. Another shot at Point Lonsdale, Australia. The colours only lasted a moment, fired as many shots as i could in the hope that one would turn out well. / I often hear people say ‘yeah, but its photoshopped’. While i’ve had to adjust brightness and contrast on a computer, the colours come from shooting at the right time.
My thanks to Paul Louis Villani, who has shared this wonderful way of showing off other artists names

Beautiful Double Island Point Lighthouse, built in 1884, and operational since. It’s a metal clad, over timber frame lighthouse, and the light today after many upgrades over the years, has 750,000 candle power! In 1992, the lighthouse had solar panels installed, and was no longer manned. Canon 50D, 18mm. Double Island Point, Rainbow Beach, QLD. Available Large.

© Simone Byrne Photography, 2009. All Rights Reserved. 3rd April, 2009 Sunset at Point Richards jetty on the Bellarine Peninsula. Was very lucky to get this as just on sunset a group of fishermen decided to come back in and I had people wandering all over the jetty. Finally they left, but the wind was blowing something fierce and the seaspray was horrendous, the only way to shoot the sunset was to wedge myself as close to the jetty as possible and shield the camera from the wind. Was the most challenging circumstances for photography I’ve faced, but I’m happy with this one. ND Grads stacked again to give a more dramatic effect. Point Richards, Victoria, Australia Camera: Canon EOS 350D Lens: Canon 18-55mm @ focal length 18mm Exposure: 0.8 sec, f16, ISO 100 Filters: Hoya UV, Cokin 121S/121M ND Grads Processing: Adobe Photoshop CS More Images @ SimoneByrne.com.au Thanks for looking, all comments greatly appreciated, Simone.
