I see a lot of strong black and white, and monochrome, showing up along with the spectacular color. / And let me take this opportunity to thank you again for the extent to which you all enhance my visual experience and knowledge. I am filled with admiration for the photographers here, your skill, the unusual subject matter, brilliant captures of impossible color and shadow, and sense of play. / I’m a generation’s difference at least to many of you, and the photographers much present in my growing up life are not the same ones you know. When I posted the portrait I did of Georgia O’Keeffe, using the Alfred Stieglitz photograph of her, I was surprised that he was unknown to many. So if you’d had some pleasure in discovering these Americans of yore, may I direct you to a few other favorites of mine? / One, a photographer of the north west wilderness & Yosemite, who trudged around mountains with a huge Hasselblad, or Agfa or one of its ancient view camera relatives, is Ansel Adams. He was famous for long exposures and a brand new crystal clarity in pictures that few equaled. / Two, (also three four & five) The Weston family: Brett, Edward, and Cole. The latter recently passed away. The whole family did brilliant work, Brett’s my favorite, he worked in the forties, possibly into the 80’s, the family lived long lives. I know them from the area I live in and their ongoing fame in San Francisco, they’re locals survived by grandchildren keeping their galleries and memories alive. Again, pioneers in black and white film, and people whose work may interest the fine practitioners here. I wish I had the sense to put a link here, but if you type in any of their names, pages of their work appear. I hope it’s a good romp for newcomers to these boys.

In Loch Ard Gorge along the Great Ocean Road last weekend, there was a little more activity than usual. Beach cricket and beach volleyball was being played by some bronzed Aussies, and it was a good opportunity to grab a few different photographs. Hi Everyone :) I attended an exhibition last night in Lismore, northern NSW, Australia, put on by fellow bubbler and newfound friend Natsky her work was just so desirable and beautiful that we bought a framed piece Get Beached We drank hot chocolately drinks, and feasted on Natsky’s gorgeous photographs of nature and other wondrous ‘stuff’..... please check out her portfolio Over 70 people had been in attendance at the time of our departure, really fantastic for a first solo, and i there were still people pouring in the door as we left. This image Natsky took is a very familiar place for myself and family, we go there often and this particular variation of the beach scene is an unusual one, it makes me feel really contemplative and appreciative of my home, the beach sharpens my creativity somehow….I’m in love with the greenish tones, which remind me of the green seaglass I collect and the other glass surfaces in my home, which i prefer to have a greenish or bluish tinge…. i can’t wait to hang it :) Natsky and I met in the strangest of ways. I was in the Apple Mac store, right next door to where she and her husband work…..the apple mac lady and i were talking about red bubble and macs…....she told me about Natsky….i looked her up on red bubble when i got home….made contact via bubblemail….dropped into visit her as a surprise…at her shop….she wasn’t there, so her husband rang her and she came right on down, we hugged and i nearly cried…it was soooo good to meet her, and now we keep in touch via bubblemail…and I have a new friend ;) an extremely talented friend….she is a wonderful photographer across the board…and i also happen to know she draws very well too…. an artist through and through. Congratulations on your wonderful success last night Natsky, you are doing so well, and i can only be so happy for you, and proud to call you friend. Natsky is the first artist from whom we have ever purchased an original artwork, so i am very very excited!!! and I hope Natsky, you know what that means, that you are very very special :) Natsky’s exhibition continues to run throughout April and May at / the Chocolate Bar, Woodlark Street, Lismore…if you are in the neighbourhood, please don’t miss it ;) / Phone 02 6622 6723

My husband and I just had a great weekend! We started it off with a Classic Car Show in town. Not terribly big, but really great for living out at the end of the world! We then went camping out at Neah bay (even farther out…) and played on the beach for hours! Our two Chinese Crested boys had a Wonderful time! They got plenty sandy and ran and ran! They are going to be sleeping for days! Anyway, I took lots of great pictures and will be uploading a few. I’ll try to keep it to only the best!
