My adaptation of a painting by Leah Schwartz / 18” x 13” Winsor & Newton Watercolors on 140 LB Arches smooth watercolor paper My first watercolor painting 1984
I chose this painting to add the verse to for this challenge ( bible verses relating to Father) as it reminded me of the special times that I shared with my Father painting before he passed away. This is a watercolour painting from a photo that I took while we were traveling along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria Australia. / This Rock formation is called The London Bridge, which is found along the south coast of Australia. The 2 Rock formations use to be joined forming a bridge-like structure ( hence where the name came from). But one day after years of erosion the middle section collapsed stranding a group of tourists on the outer section.

This is among the oldest things I’ve uploaded onto the site and because of that it looks a whole heck of a lot different than a lot of the work I’m doing these days. Also because of that there are some things I like about it, and a lot of things I don’t. What’s it all about? I dunno. A kid, a shipwreck, an octopus, a bed, a turtle, a deserted island, a puppy, a weird muppet looking thing… Maybe it’s a direct result of the head injury I had as a young man?

Aphrodite A Grecian Goddess of the sea. She is the Goddess of love, beauty, sensuality. The phrase “goddess of love” in Sanskrit translates as ‘she who has a fish as her emblem.’ One vision of her is mounted on a dolphin. She carries a casket representing life, death and rebirth. According to one belief, dolphins carried the souls of dead to the Underworld. She like Venus was born of the sea. She is associated with all the creatures of the sea. She represents the sea which is life giving and She is seen as hope. She is the Goddess of both physical and spiritual love. / / WARNING / ©2008 Globalphotos All rights reserved. / All photographs, text and images by Globalphotos are the exclusive property of Globalphotos – protected under Australian and international copyright laws. / These images may not be reproduced, copied or manipulated without written permission. / No use for Public Domain. / Use of any image for another photographic concept or illustration is a violation of copyright.
