The recent political events in this country have created a tidal wave of hope and optimism in the minds of those of us who dream of a more perfect world where hate, bigotry and the senseless acts of social, racial and political violence are replaced by tolerance, peace and justice.

“And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world – our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear this world down – we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security – we support you. And to all those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright – tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.” Photoshop combo of two images. Obama image used from www.politicogod.com/.../barack_obama_finger.jpg and personal image. Golden, Colorado. Circa 2008 /
What better way to celebrate Mr. Obama’s win than with a nice cheezy caricature! http://jeffreyphillips.com.au
Barack Obama – Change for America, for the World, for All of Us – The Audacity of Hope On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama defeated John McCain and became the first African American to be elected President of the United States. In his victory speech, delivered before a crowd of hundreds of thousands of his supporters in Grant Park in Chicago, Illonois, Obama proclaimed that “change has come to America.” Born in Hawaii, Obama will be the first U.S. President born outside the contiguous United States. He also will be fifth youngest President at the date of accession and the second since Lincoln whose primary political base is Illinois. This portrait illustrates and epitomizes the audacity of hope. President Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America on January 20, 2009. Selected information courtesy of Wikipedia. My little tribute to Conan on his first week as the new host of the Tonight Show. The opening segment on the first night was great! / Go Conan go!
Originally done for a children’s picture book story that I was doing but it got abandoned. Perhaps I’ll get back to the story again one day.
I originally sketched this out on 4th of July of 2006 in a park on a beautiful day with my late girlfriend. She asked me to put a small white scotty dog in one of the squares. I did and she loved that it was something she asked for and I drew it. She also asked if and when I get around to making a painting of that sketch if I would also paint in the little white dog. I did. This one is for you baby!
I love jazz and any time I can convey that admiration I’m all on board. Dig man! / 8×10
