These are 2 of my cats, the black and one one is Surprise, named because the white marking on her face was like an exclaimation mark. She was from the first litter that my ex husbands cat had. She is approx 12 years old. The big white and black cat is Eric my son’s cat, named after a character in a Terry Pratchett book. He was from the second litter that my ex husbands cat had. He is approx 11 years old.

A portrait of a giraffe nuzzling into a zoo keeper
Took this one while out having coffee in my back yard last weekend. There were several manatees out playing around and I was able to catch these two socializing above the water line.

Riverbanks Zoological Park had two magnificent Kodiak bears when it opened. I always called them “Kodak bears,” ‘cause they were always good for a Kodak moment. Alas, the giant Kodiaks went away some time ago, along with the half-dozen polar bears they had back then, too. This is a Kodachrome from the late 70’s. Canon F-1, 500mm telephoto, available daylight.

My daughter meeting a horse, Churchdown, Glos. Taken with a Canon PowerShot A460 as my Panasonic Lumix has gone missing!! :-(
This baby giraffe sure loves to nuzzle. Capturing tender moments like this is what I think photographic art is all about. These giraffes certainly stole my heart and I hope that they will find a special place in yours! ©Jean Thomas 2009 / All photographs and artworks in this portfolio are copyrighted and owned by the artist, Jean Thomas. This very rainy morning, the fox kits were hanging out by the entrance to their den waiting for their breakfast, voles from the nearby meadow, which arrived dangling from mom’s muzzle. This year the fox vixen chose her den in a culvert off a meadow in the middle of the town of Jackson. Needless to say, the family caused quite a stir with the locals and particularly the wildlife photographers. Fortunately, the foul weather left me alone with the fox family this lovely morning. can’t go past a couple of Clydesdales having a break and a nuzzle! This pair were in Walhalla, a little old gold-mining town spectacularly set in the hills in the middle of the Victorian bush.
