These were formerly classified in a separate family, the Heliconiidae or longwing butterflies, and like other longwings this species does have long, rather narrow wings in comparison with other butterflies. It is not closely related to the true fritillaries. It is a medium to large butterfly, with a wingspan of from 6 to 9.5 cm. Its underwings are buff, with large silvery spots. It takes its name from the fact that migrating flights of the butterflies are sometimes seen over the Gulf of Mexico. Mother.Culture Page _Support in a mother’s immediate family is crucial to success. If one member is not on board the breastfeeding relationship becomes vulnerable. This portrait also touches on the “family bed”. Western Culture has told us that sleeping with our children is bad in every way. I challenge this way of thinking with depicting the family bed as a sanctuary, and to be reassessed by western culture.

  • Full of Good Things!
    by Johanne Brunet

    US$3.99–US$91.20

How many times have we heard our mother tell us Come on, eat it! It’s full of good things! Well, here is proof that moms are always right!   Again, this is my starting image. Please refer to Renaissance Still Life for more details on how it was made. I selected only the fruit with the elliptical marquee tool, and discarded the rest. Then I sperized with the distort filter, and scaled everything to fit into the apple.         To obtain the final image, I mostly stacked three layers of this image of a red apple ornament over the fruit, blended in screen mode in various opacities. Finally, I adjusted levels for each colour channel separately.
