I took this photo on 07/13/06 on a vacation with my husband; we began in Redding, CA went over to the Northern CA coast and headed north…. went clear up to Tillamook, Oregon. We followed the shoreline all the way, on this wonderfully scenic trip. Built in 1936 at MP 141.68, just south of Newport is one of several toll-free bridges forming a part of the Oregon coast highway, US 101. This bridge is located in the city of Newport. YAQUINA BAY (NEWPORT) BRIDGE / The structure is a combination of both steel and concrete arches. The main span of the 3,223-feet structure is a 600-foot steel through arch flanked by two 350-foot steel deck arches. There are five reinforced concrete deck arch secondary spans on the south end of the steel arches and fifteen concrete deck girder approach spans. I had an opportunity that I clearly used to my advantage…...while up at Lake Nora over the weekend, a dragonfly in distress and nearly dead happened my way; he spent the good part of an hour letting me photograph him before he gathered up enough strength and then flew off, only to land about 10 feet from me, but out in the water…........I made a wish for him and I know his spirit is watching over all the others as they diligently go about their designated tasks…...I had a very good feeling though as if he was put right there in front of me for this reason…......I got quite a few shots of his entirety, but I enjoy this one more…........ / ______ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. views: 1161 / favs: 45 My origami calendar I folded the mother duck out of trace paper around the time I saw ducklings on the way to work; can read about that here. I can’t remember how big the paper was; I believe 13×13mm. The two little ducklings in the centre were folded from 6×6mm pieces of trace paper while the little one at the back was folded from a 5×5mm piece of trace paper. I know mother duck is just behind the 4cm mark, but the duckling at the back is infront of the 1cm mark, hence the duck family is a 3cm spread ^ _ ^ New version added August 21, 2008 / Looks great on a card! Pencil drawing on paper. Changed to sepia tone in post. / / This is one piece out of my newest series, Perpetual Motion. Each drawing is drawn entirely with the numbers 1 – 12, marking the hours of the clock. There are no lines, no shading other than shading from the numbers. I call this style “Numberism” We’re constantly moving in one of four directions. Even if we choose to do nothing at all, we are still moving through time. Because of this, we can never go back to where we started. Every frame, there is a new “you”, fully formed in the present moment in time, built on our past and hoping for the future, but only truly existing in this moment. It is only this moment that actually exists or ever will exist, and it’s the only point in which our actions and choices will have any effect on the world, and it will be gone as quickly as it came. These drawings are attempts to show just how fleeting these moments are, these moments that so quickly become our long kept memories, and things that despite how much we might like to, are moments we can never relive. My hope is that when we look at these drawings, we will be reminded of the importance of now and possibly take more advantage of it than we might have without the reminder.

A Teardrop in Time I dedicate this to all Native Americans. / This image is so much more than a photograph of a beautiful sunrise…...to me it symbolizes power and strength, and overwhelming evidence of a power so much greater than we could ever imagine…...the teardrop is in memory of all the vast numbers of Native Americans whom were abused and destroyed by others’ ignorance…....
