  Ok, so here’s the thing. I’ve been competing at a site called Digital Image Cafe for about 15 months now, and in the course of that time I’ve won a few prizes. I’ve got two boxes here with PC versions of Corel Paint Shop Pro PHOTO XI ....and can’t actually spare the space or ram on my computer to run it. Plus, my husband has this bad habit of throwing things out that are sitting around gathering dust….lucky I’m still here, actually! I’d hate for them to be wasted. Here’s what I propose: If anyone here wants to have one of these, I’ll give them both away…..post a photo here to prove how much you need it…..I’ll ask some of my friends to help me judge. The photos have to be loaded into Redbubble and for sale. To link it to here, go to the photo you want to share, right click on it, then go to properties. Drag your mouse over the url where it says Location, and make sure you get it all, including the ending extension, in most cases jpg, then add an exclamation mark at the start and the end ! / Paste that into the comment, and you should see your photo. Competition will end on Feb 29, 7pm Eastern STANDARD time – AUS, (not daylight saving time) and I’ll post them anywhere in the world, surface mail….no correspondence will be entered into, so don’t bmail me about this, put all your questions and photos here, please.   since i joined Red Bubble i have noticed there is a large amount of nudity on here, this in its self dosnt bother me as artistic nudity is something to be appreciated, however i have also noticed there is some of it that i struggle to see the beauty in… for example link has become quite popular on Red Bubble but each time i see it in the gallery i find it incredibly distasteful… now before anyone gets narky, im not saying that the artist is a bad artist or that this is necisarily a bad peice of art, im simply saying that to me it seems incredibly unattractive, however on the other hand there are images such as link, link and link that i feel have used nudity in its correct artistic way. I dont know what you all think on this matter, but feel free to chuck ur comments and oppinions this way, ill be happy to listen!

  Hi Everyone, I have had a couple of emails about my posting content that is not safe for workplace viewing. I thought I would write about my views on the subject. I love beautiful things and I love freedom and equality. When I photograph I endeavour to capture the most beautiful subjects I can find. Further I then try to present them in the most beautiful and humble way. I believe material things can be exceptionally beautiful and also feel they possess an inner energy that can reach those who behold them with open minds. My favoutite passions are women and automobiles. I have other passions that I love to photograph but these seem to have the most impact for me. I receive little if any sensorship re my cars but often am questioned about my shots of women. More often than not this attention is not related to pose or style but to if a nipple or vagina is shown. I really cannot understand how showing a certain body part in a beautiful light can be dangerous to anyone. Would it be safer if it was a painted nipple or a photo of a nipple behind a tigh tshirt. If so why would it be safer? Also why is it that nude photos of humans can be dangerous when horses or wild animals can be presented even with genitalia included. I believe we humans are very self absorbed when it comes to our bodies. I believe the only negative involved with a beautifully presented female nude is in how it is perceived. Sure there are plenty of social problems with female bodies and nudity, especially if these bodies are considered attractive. Many men and women cannot handle the power of another nude form. We have I believe been conditioned to tarnish what in essence can be such a beautiful aesthetic and energy. I believe if beautiful looking women felt gifted for their looks and were humble that perhaps others would be more empowered by viewing them. Further if others were secure as humans perhaps they could view the aesthetics of a nude woman and maintain a level of peace and control. I do not believe that lustfull men or jealous women will ever be empowered by protecting them from images of beautiful nude women. Sensorship is in my opinion a questionable practice at best. With regards to beautifully produced images of naked women I believe any sensorship is really protecting the weak from their inner issues. I feel in general in society we would be far better off protecting less and discussing and searching far more. In my opinion we should endeavour to allow as much experience as possible to reach us. From here we should search for knowledge and wisdom. Only then will we really gain control and perhaps safety! www.leapoffaith.com.au / www.bodylinecal.com

  A couple of models that I had been photographing over the last couple of years recently emailed me there desire to have all of their images removed from my portfolio. A new calling they claim… A bit flabbergasted and down right frustrated as I have spent considerable amounts of money and time trying to help them both develop and obtain work in the industry. Of course I have signed model releases for every shoot that we did and have no intention of honoring their wish as some of the photographs are part of my best work. That said I did remove a couple but now the requests are “remove my name from all photographs” a request I also will not honor as only the first name is used. Have any of you out there dealt with this and if so how did or would you handle this?

  Once again, In the spirit of full disclosure I feel honor-bound to reveal to the redbubble community something about myself that I’m not…

  Once again, In the spirit of full disclosure I feel honor-bound to reveal to the redbubble community something about myself that I’m not entirely proud of. At the end of the day, it was liberating, but at the beginning of the next day…well… you be the judge…It’s like this…. Yesterday I shot a nude self-portrait and placed it on RB….. Needless to say, a male nude and not quite the glorious celebration of physical beauty that we’ve become accustomed to on this site… But, hey, we’re all artists or something, right? The truth is, it’s all LittleHelen’s fault – not really… If you don’t know her, Helen is a sweetheart, but what happened is she started this group, see, called BlueRoom and was very nice to ask me to join – I had collaborated with her on the pic she ultimately chose for the group’s avatar. Helen has put a lot of time and effort into the group and done a great job, and without question it’s a hit. The object of Blue Room, as near as I can tell, is to have a friendly, mature setting for adults to share sexy pics & stories and talk dirty at each other. I’m not a big joiner, but I like Helen and woke up yesterday feeling guilty that I wasn’t participating, soooooo…..... I’m nosing around the group and I come to a forum started by Helen called “Seduce Me.” I read some of it – pretty steamy stuff…. Within minutes I’m completely confused by the witty repartee and instead of slipping into a coma, my “alter ego” comes out – Yep, I’ve got one…I like to call him the “little bastard” – and I decide to shake things up a bit by asking Helen if she’s into older men, a legitimate question, and, for good measure, I add a pic of myself – y’know – naked…. I reasoned what’s good for the goose, etc. Plus, I wanted Helen’s response to be based on “hard” evidence, so to speak. Which is what happened…. Apparently, Helen spit her morning coffee all over. Knowing Helen, it must have been the world’s cutest Milton Berle impression, but I sincerely feel bad about that. I really do. She promptly downloaded the picture, I’m guessing as evidence for the restraining order, and I feel worse about that. On the other hand, get in line, Helen, and take a number…..   If, gentle reader, you’re interested in an update on the shawhouse Quest For Nudes, read on. To be honest, I expected my online post, “Any Models In Los Angeles?”, to garner the cyber-equivalent of chirping crickets punctuated by a few mercy comments, hang around like an unwanted guest, dry up and blow away. Boy howdy, was I wrong. But I’m getting ahead of myself. So you don’t have to read the earlier journal entry, here’s the gist: 1) I fancy myself an “artist” (as one who’s sporting a portfolio unblemished by sales, I will amend that to read, “starving artist.” Okay, “starving.”). / 2) The other morning, flush with inspiration and dreams of a better world, I sprang from the bed like a cockroach on a hotplate, declaring to one and all (my wife, Diana) that I was ready, willing and able to shoot nudes! Why? Because! You can’t toss a brick in the Louvre without hitting a nude rendered by some great master or other, you can’t swing a cat at the Whitney without clearing the walls of nudes and more nudes. It’s a simple matter of physics. Bigtime painters and photographers (and slobs with cameras and brushes) have all painted and photographed nudes, and if I’m serious enough to continue to pretend I know what the hell I’m doing, I gotta snap and photoshop the crap out of a nude or two. Then there’s the artistic thing that I addressed in the journal entry. Finally, I just wonder what I’ll come up with. So the other night I post a polite request for models all dressed up in their birthday suits. Simple, right? What followed, naturally, is “cosmic clusterfuck ala shawhouse.” Brevity being the soul of wit, I’ll sum it up in one (long) declarative sentence: My wife laughed in my face like a braying donkey, morphed into seriousness to tell me I’m nutzycakes (if I had a nickel for every…), then Bonnie the Wonder Model, a chameleon in human form with whom I’ve worked all of once, and who I’m certain is the best model I will ever work with, reads my journal, asks in her characteristically nice way the equivalent of “What gives?” and I, characteristically, over-think her email, conclude that I don’t want to offend her by asking her to pose nekkid, and I don’t want to offend her by NOT asking her to pose in the alltogether, but she brought it up, soooo your favorite self-destructive asshole goes all awkward and, hoping to radiate casual confidence salted with a dash of world-weary James Bondian wit, writes back with what would be way clever on Superman’s bizzaro world, but in this dimension qualifies as smarmy with a capital smarm, and, guess what, no I’ll tell you – Big-eyed Bonnie the Undiscover Supermodel, five feet, eleven inches of nice, appears not to be returning my emails – in short, my wife is convinced that her husband is an unwritten sitcom and my model is looking up the correct spelling of pornmeister for the restraining order….

  Red Bubble has taken out my “Penis Prayer” photograph. In the past it was published in Australian Women’s Forum Magazine (no plastic cover) because it passed the censorship laws back then, in the “Raging 90s” even though it was stiff because of its aesthetic value and tastefulness. It was also sold in shops as a postcard. What is happening, has censorship occured because people fear intimacy and sex. Has the Government become more conservative, for example Mr Rudd’s comment on Bill Hansen. Is it for commercial reasons of Red Bubble which may restrict our creativity? How far does it have to go before we take a stand. I would love feedback on this one.

  In light of all this rubbish about Bill Henson being belittled and preyed upon by the police and the media, how come my piece The Hand We’re Dealt hasn’t been subject to any scrutiny or wild accusations. / How come my other work Fools & Intellects hasn’t been taken down from any gallery walls by police. / / I created those pieces in 2006, they’ve been in numerous exhibitions and contests since then, yet I haven’t had a single person say that displaying a naked child being burned is inappropriate. / Where the hell is my free bloody nationwide publicity??? Where’s my smack on the wrist and “moral obligations as an artist” lecture? Now I love ya Bill and your work is cool, but if I’m not mistaken most of the figures in my works are nude children and even though you’re the man with the big house, fast car and more money than you can handle, and I’m just the no good centrelink dependent Uni Arts student. I’ve been doing the nude child thing longer than you, so if you’d like to hand me over to the media so I can get “my” big house, fast car and more money than I can handle, I’d be much obliged. Cheers.
