A peaceful place with hill, river, forest, birds, fish, flowers, fresh air, sunshine, fog, and cloud. Even when I recall it, I feel it was a dream in my life. The pitcuture was taken at Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Early Morning on Nova Scotia’s Hebron River
An especially beautiful evening at Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, with a quiet Atlantic Ocean and a beautiful flaming sunset.I’ve already posted one from the same evening (“Fireball”) and I thought it would be interesting to silhouette the lighthouse against the setting sun. I waited until there were no people about,I felt it would be an intrusion on the serenity of the scene.
Lighthouse at Peggy Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada I took lots of lighthouse in Maritimes, Canada. If you are interested in lighthouse photograph collection, it would be a great set of your collection. See Others: /

Pastel landscape painting done from a photo taken, on a drive through Nova Scotia, by my sister, Ruth Bailey.
PICTON CASTLE ,at the Tall Ships Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia, July 16, 2007 The Canadian 284-ton Barque Picton Castle is a traditionally rigged and operated sail training ship ,voyaging around the world under square sail. In 2005, on her fourth global circumnavigation, she sailed more than 30,000 sea miles across the South Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and South and North Atlantic Oceans, visiting remote islands and tropical ports including Panama, Galapagos, Pitcairn Island, Rarotonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Bali, Madagascar, Cape Town, St. Helena, and the Lesser Antilles of the Caribbean. All on board work, stand watch, and learn the way of a square-rigged sailing ship, also learning wire and rope rigging, sail making, boat handling, navigation, and practical seamanship. She also delivers educational material and other supplies to the remote islands. Outfitted to the highest standard with safety gear and equipment, she is a strong, seaworthy home afloat for young adventurers learning the art of deep-water seafaring. The Gorch Fock, sail training ship of the German Navy, in the Atlantic Ocean off Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Well, I could imagine him saying that! Taken at dusk in the Halifax Public Gardens, Nova Scotia. I think I was most taken by the near-metallic glitter of the water catching reflections from the lighting along the pathways by this pool. October 5, 2007, Sony DSFC828 camera.
It’s old, rusty and weather-worn but still runs…the fishermen of the Village of Gabarus use it to haul their boats to and from the ocean… /
Pastel painting of home on hill and lone boat snapped during visit to Peggy’s Cove in in Nova Scotia last summer.

One of many picturesque scenic views in Peggy’s Cove on Nova Scotia was this little lagoon with its wonderful reflections that were a joy to attempt to capture in watercolor. Original is 8” x 10” done on Arches 140-pound block.
The South Shore of Nova Scotia has innumerable beaches, but one of the biggest is Summerville, a favourite with locals and tourists alike. This day in October 2005, the offshore fog bank decided to come onshore, aided by a light wind off the Atlantic. But the air was very mild and the fog lent that soft overlay that blends well with the sand, water and forests. Sony DSCF828 camera.
The statue is in the Public Gardens at Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the expression on the face just seemed to bring that thought to mind. Because we know what seagulls usually do when they perch on something…anything…anytime..don’t we?? / Sony DSCF828 camera, September 2005
July 14 2007, a heavy Atlantic summer fog at Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, keeps everyone off the fishing boats and snug inside. Except, of course, people who like to get soaking wet in the heavy mist so they can get a picture of what the locals are avoiding. Sony DSCF828.
October storm in 2006 on the Nova Scotia coast not far from Peggy’s Cove. The Atlantic always provides us with great photo-ops if we happen to like storms. Of course we also have to like getting wet, waiting for breaks in the driving rain, and somehow keep the camera dry, but the end result is worth it. I always try to catch the surf reaching to the top of the cliffs and sometimes beyond.
The Acadians, exiled from Nova Scotia in Canada during the Grand Derangement, found their way to the Deep South and made their home in southern Louisiana. For centuries these hardy French-speaking people have lived here and this cottage is a typical dwelling from the earliest days of their presence in the area. Amazingly, the culture is still intact, and the language, which sounds very much like it would have sounded in 17th Century France, has not been lost. Through proud Americans, my parents still speak nothing but French to each other.
