I spent a couple of weekends last year taking photos of these spectacular little carnivorous flowers, drosera peltata . This shot in particular looks makes them look strikingly like War of the Worlds aliens. I don’t usually do series of photographs, but I might upload a few more of these.

Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel (15 November 1891 – 14 October 1944) was one of the most famous German field marshals of World War II. He was the commander of the Deutsches Afrika Korps and also became known by the nickname “The Desert Fox” for the skillful military campaigns he waged on behalf of the German Army in North Africa. / / Rommel’s military successes earned the respect not only of his troops and Adolf Hitler, but also that of his enemy Commonwealth troops in the North African Campaign. An enduring legacy of Rommel’s character is that he is also considered to be a chivalrous and humane military officer in contrast with many other figures of Nazi Germany. more / / Black and white conte pencil on brown paper. Personally i always find it a better skill to be able to find ‘peace of mind’ rather than give someone a ‘piece of my mind’. But then again people love a bit of drama! haha…and you could read this as portioning out pieces! ps-Sorry if you saw this last night…i wasn’t happy so i deleted it and started from scratch again. Now i must have also repented and officially completed my goodness challenge! Back to business…stay tuned!

No Tanks! / This is an anti war t-shirt, it is not aimed at servicemen or women from an particular country, but at the war machine symbolized by the tank. I can’t think that anybody would be pro war but I can understand people supporting their armed forces as individuals. / Dogs were once used as anti tank mines. The dogs would be starved, then trained to find food under a tank. The dogs quickly learned that being released from their pens meant to run out to where a tank was parked and find some food. Once trained, the dogs would be fitted with an explosive charge and set loose into a field of oncoming tanks. When the dog went underneath the tank — where there was less armour — the charge would detonate and gut the enemy vehicle. This tee is also for all the dogs blown up in the name of war. Detail: /

The Morrigan, ancient goddess of the land, of fertility and death, became associated in more modern times with war. In triple aspect she was accompanied by Nemain (Frenzy), Macha or Badbh (Battle Crow). In her war aspect she appeared over the battlefield, inciting the warriors to become crazy with war-lust, and thus, causing their own demise. The Morrigan was not death herself, she was the harbinger of death, and so the Ban-Shee or the Washer at the Ford, became associated with her. She is the Kali of the Irish pantheon, the Dark Mother to whom we must respect deeply. Some of her symbols are the hooded crow, hawthorne, blackthorne, apple, spirals, night, twilight, autumn, earth, dark places, and the colors: red, black, and white. The Morrigan, represents the dark aspect that we all experience and possess. Everything emerges from the dark, the child from the womb, the day from night, and The Morrigan’s power exists within this place of potentiality. We also end the cycle by returning to the dark, day gives way to night, our bodies return to the earth, and so The Morrigan blesses us by releasing us from her realm and calls us back when it is time. The dark aspect is not something to be feared, for to fear the dark, is to be afraid of our own nature. It is to be understood as part of a natural cycle of rise and fall, expanding and contracting, reaching out and turning inward, etc. The Morrigan offers us a way to understand and navigate the dark paths throughout our life, if only we overcome our fears and reach out to accept the “fruit” of knowledge she offers us. Watercolour & acrylics on Schoellershammer N 10 paper made from ‘Spanish grass’ pulp / 300g/m2. Olive was in one of those funny dreams I have. She is a brave warrior, she just wanted to bring peace to the world. She kidnapped the dove symbolising Peace. / Olive came and stop the wars; as a giant girl she walked the globe in 2 hours and fought all the killing machines by squeezing them. After all, Olive is a corageous peacemaker. I liked her a lot. A white dove with an olive branch is the symbol of peace for part of the humanity.
Toddler leaning on soldier’s gravestone at a National Military Cemetery in the United States. This is one of those moments when I felt I was destined to be at this place at this moment in time. Nikon F3, 300mm f2.8 EDAF lens, Kodachrome 25
I know I don’t usually do works like this but i thought it looked pretty cool. There was this really interesting sculpture by the water and i shot it straight on, It was a boring perspective. So I tried a few ways and in time i got to this, it was the shot i was looking for. As our tempers rise war is born, war with ourselves, war with others or war with war, it is all trouble. Trouble begets more trouble so the key is to never encourage it in the first place.
