This is a newly finished (as of 16th of October 2006) water-colour, drawn – erm painted – from an old photo of my lovely ex-girlfriend Kirsty. When my pc blew up a few weeks ago AGAIN I had to look for imagery I had already printed out and found this somewhere. She was very good to me. I am intensely proud of her. She has through her own will, talent and intelligence, created a magnificently successful career and healed herself from wounds that were engulfing her when we met. She was a terrible mess then, but her kindness and integrity have remained a constant. / Being with me, yeah ok, I will admit it I guess I am hard work. But there are fringe benefits… like those Goths from the late 80s heh. I think I have a specific aptitude for adoration, and have more perhaps at my disposal to offer the adored than other adorers may. / I took this shot soon after I met her, though the resemblance is not as photographic as a great deal of my work, as it was done almost entirely from memory… this was of course because I lost the print of the photograph almost as soon as I had begun painting it. This is the nature of my life. It’s ok. There are fringe benefits to me too. And I am growing my hair because I am an artist and I CAN so nyah.

The sound of Awakening / (Captured with a Canon 5D + 16-35L II lens) Since my mother is a Yoga teacher she asked me if I could take some interesting pictures with a tibetan singing bowl for her. So I went all the way up to the “Roque de los Muchachos” (La Palma, 2400 metres above sea level). In Buddhist practice, singing bowls are used as a support for meditation. / When I was looking for an interesting perspective, I found an interesting bush with the mountains being in the background

Thanks to John Radosevich and Glenda Remaklus, I now have warblers coming to my feeders. John and Glenda gave me the idea of making my own suet instead of using the store bought variety, and it has made all the difference in the world. Evidently, birds appreciate “home cooking” better than packaged foods! Before I tried their suggestion, I saw warblers only from a distance, but now they are regulars at the feeding stations. I’m so thrilled to be able to view these darling little songsters up close, so I’m dedicating this image to “Uncle John” and “Aunt Glenda” who made it all possible. Thanks a million from the warblers and me!
A most incredible church at Sternberg (near Velden in Austria). Perched precariously on top of the mountain, this church enjoys incredible views over the valley and lakes below. Also from the same beautiful church: Mozart and the euphoria of singing, singing, singing… When I embarked upon my journey at the beginning of this year, I made a list of things that I wished to explore or enjoy… in my quest to overcome my terrible afflictions with depression, anxiety, insecurity, guilt and anger. It was an ambitious list, for a man in my state of mind at the time: In my first few weeks, I managed to successfully tick off just about everything on my list… except for the ‘choir bit’. So, this week… I finally joined a choir. And not just your average backyard choir… but an incredibly talented bunch of people who call themselves the Gold Coast City Choir. I have thrown myself in at the deep end and committed to joining the group, as they prepare for their busy Easter performance schedule. Amongst the song list for their Easter recital is the hauntingly rich and intoxicatingly powerful “Requiem Mass” by Mozart (one of my newly discovered favourites is Lacrymosa). Over the past few days, I have completely immersed myself in the world of Mozart. It has been twenty years since I read sheet music, I have never before sang in a choir and had never listened to ‘Requiem Mass’ until this week. But goodness, it just feels so very right. Mozart is now playing in my world… every waking hour (I even wrap my MP3 Player in plastic bags to listen to Requiem Mass whilst kayaking…. oh bliss….). It is such a dream to be singing this beautiful music. / All spruced up and heading off to my very first choir session… Some photos from the Choir’s website ... So. With my mind filled with all things Mozart and Requiem Mass, this image just seemed to flow out of my mind… a church in Austria (the birthplace of Mozart) under full moon on a rather haunting night: [Creative Effects: Contrast/brightness/shadow adjustments, Colour Removal, Blue Photo Filter, Three Omni Spotlights with Photoshop]
