  • Combination one room school house, church, community building, and town hall. These structures are scattered through out the Ozark Mountains, and the foothills of Arkansas. Sooooooo…... These types of scenes are very familiar to me, living here in the good ol’ natural state. My very first years of school began in a one room school house almost identical to this one, and it is now long gone.. When I look at this photograph, I can still see us all running, and playing in the school yard, and hear all of our laughter, and screaming. All the sounds of the children playing, as we went along in our merry, carefree younger days. I remember…........

  • I was shooting a basket ball game and noticed this cute couple in the bleachers, they were such a contrast to all the teens nearby who were all ‘connecting’ with their cell phones and ipods and looking so isolated from one another. Ironic how lonely we can be in this age of mass connectivity! / I painted this in Photoshop and spent 2 entire nights on it, as I had an idea in my head as to how i wanted it to turn out. I composited a few other ‘bodies’ from another shot and zoomed in and used airbrushes, smudging and some custom brushes. / Hope ya like it. (C) 2008

  • In Namibia, I visited a local school as part of my shanty town experiences. The children was so innocent, happy and carefree. They asked to have their photos taken, and soon as I pulled my camera out, this was their reaction. It was really moving to see something so normal to me bring so much joy to these kids. I couldn’t help but think how different their existence is to mine, especially when I was their age. Despite not having many material possessions, they are happy and they are so safe with each other, their teachers and families. Made me wonder what life would be like with little or no crime, as there is nothing to steal and no reason to either. Without those things to worry about, I wondered if we could all be this happy in life. • For our final school exhibit we were given the theme “My Space”. I decided to make it “My Space Inavsion” for my personal theme. I then took portrait shots of all the people who have invaded my space both positively and negatively. They are then displayed in a space along with and empty bird cage with its door open, a body cast with the freed bird on its finger and then the portraits (A4) all displayed around the space individually. Then the idea is that when you enter the space to view the exhibit, you invade my space with your presence. It also goes that my art, is my space, it frees my spirit ( like the bird) and allows me to be me in my space… These aren’t all the portraits as there are over 30 potraits and the collage would be weird with all of them. The extent of your consciousness is limited only by your ability to love and to embrace with your love the space around you, and all it contains. Napoleon Bonaparte Featured In Collective Collage
