  • Charcoal drawing with apophysis layers Birdwings / Your grief for what you’ve lost lifts a mirror / up to where you’re bravely working / Expecting the worst, you look, and instead, / here’s the joyful face you’ve been wanting to see. / Your hand opens and closes and opens and closes. / If it were always a fist or always stretched open, / you would be paralyzed. / Your deepest presence is in every small contracting / and expanding / the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated / as birdwings Rumi

  • Thinking of fall and the strange, wonderful and lonely delight of it; the re-entrance of fire for warmth and comfort as cold sets in. Thinking of death and life reborn, listening to Loreena McKennitt, this is what happened. Scottish spelling I’m told. Correct me if I’m wrong. /

  • Charcoal drawing and Apophysis overlays No room for form On the night when you cross the street / from your shop and your house / to the cemetary, you’ll hear me hailing you from inside / the open grave, and you’ll realize / how we’ve always been together. I am the clear consciousness-core / of your being, the same in / ecstasy as in self hating fatigue. That night, when you escape the fear of snakebite / and all irritation with the ants, you’ll hear / my familiar voice, see the candle being lit, smell the incense, the surprise meal fixed / by the lover inside all your other lovers. This heart tumult is my signal / to you igniting in the tomb. So don’t fuss with the shroud / and the graveyard road dust. Those get ripped open and washed away / in the music of our finally meeting. And don’t look for me in a human shape. / I am inside your looking. No / room for form with love this strong. Rumi

  • / / nurture / The act of nourishing or nursing; tender care; education; training; That which nourishes; food; diet; The environmental influences that contribute to the development of an individual; see also nature; to nourish or nurse / en.wiktionary.org/wiki/nurture Media – pencil and photoshop / Substrate – paper I can’t explain this, ‘cept to say, it’s inspired by our connection with nature and the fragility of life itself sometimes, the message coming through is to nurture life by way of fostering goodwill toward one another and accepting we have a duty of care to our natural world also. Because Easter is approaching I thought it appropriate :) The child’s sustenance, or umbilical cord if you like is coming from a tree, symbolic of the healing that nature can bring….the new life and growth that comes with nurture both of spirit and of nature. Humility is understanding our rightful place in the scheme of all things, including nature, family structure and the wider community…... a world where there is tolerance for all, is the one i pray for

  • Watercolor, gouache and pencil on board, / 11×14 / 2009 Model: Kambriel One of my latest passions is the symbolism of the peacock, and how it has been associated to immortality and renewal. His feathers were used as talismans and protection against evil spirits. In the Eastern traditions it has been seen as symbols of wisdom, benevolence, compassion and kind-heartedness. The “eye” in the peacock feather is associated to the pineal gland, making of it a sacred symbol. Through the development of the pineal gland one can awake the Kundalini and achieve understanding of the spiritual world.
