  • Because typewriters are beautiful things.

  • Chanced upon this scene when walking in the country and captured the image as swiftly as I could. Dates from the 1960s but some have claimed it is timeless. An American lady was inspired to write a poem about this – a lovely piece which I intend to add here.

  • / This is a still life from my Nostalgia series / It’s created with the “painted with light” technique and digitally enhanced. Here is a tutorial on my work flow. Well, I hope you like my entry into this wonderful community which I discovered by happenstance. Cheers. Update: I’ve been around for a while now, so don’t forget to check out the rest of my Nostalgia series like more work / the calendar /

  • / Isn’t another bad day (yet again) on the stock markets the perfect time to show you my latest still life in the “nostalgia” series, entitled: the stock market. / As usual, old and new elements are mingled together. The painted with light technique was used again, as well as digital manipulation to get the end result I was after. / It’s strange, I spent months planning this shot, preparing and getting the props and then in a few hours time it’s shot. It’s almost an anti-climax. / Well, I hope you enjoy it! / By the way, this is the fourth installment in this series, I’m withholding the second one which I consider my masterpiece in this series. I’ll probably upload it in a few days. / °°° / A wallpaper based on this photo can be found here more work / the calendar /

  • / sold as a mounted print to a mystery buyer This is my second instalment in the “nostalgia” series, the one I’ve been / withholding from you. Because of it’s very special mood I consider this to be my masterpiece in this series and in general, to date that is. Same general concept and techniques as in the other images from this series with the most important being the painted with light technique more work / the calendar /

  • June 26th How excited I am! Tomorrow is my birthday, and my sisters have told me that Papa will be arriving first thing, and that he has a very special treat in store for me. Naturally since learning of this, I have been at pains to discover what awaits me. Yet to my utter dismay, when I try to interrogate my sisters , they will only say that they are sworn to secrecy, then glance at one another and burst into infuriating giggles. I feel that if I am to succeed in my endeavour to extract the necessary information before morning, I must first get to each of them separately, then use all the cunning and ingenuity inherited from my beloved father. What springs immediately to mind, is to adopt the guile of one of Nature’s predators and pursue the weaker of the pack. Knowing as I do of Audrey’s great fondness for fruit bonbons, I shall arm myself with said items, and make my way to her bedchamber this very evening. Let us see how long her lips remain sealed when such delightful confection is offered in exchange for her secrets!

  • / Another instalment in my Nostalgia series / It was created using my painted with light techniques, if you are interested in the details, here is an article I wrote about them. In this case I set the exposure to 15sec. Equipment used: / - Pentax K10D with a SMC Pentax-M 1:3.5 28mm lens / - cheap flashlight and the camera set to auto WB which it screws up resulting in the nostalgic colours. more work / the calendar / Available as a desktop wallpaper

  • / I wouldn’t like to feed the photographers for which this photo is the plain and simple truth. Another instalment in my Nostalgia series although a little different then usual in the set-up. It’s a lot simpler a composition then most of my work, but let me assure you, it was so much harder to get right! Shot with my relatively new Pentax K10D and a very old Pentax-A 1:1.7 50mm objective. You can read all about the technique used in this tutorial more work / the calendar / preview / “Forgotten” was sold as a Medium mounted print to an anonymous buyer. Thank you! “Forgotten” is also freely downloadable as a wallpaper to decorate your desktop.

  • Acrylic On Canvas A piece that was inspired about watching Wong Kar Wai’s film In The Mood For Love, set in 60s Hong Kong. A story about forbidden love and in the story, the female and male leads shared some special moments in room 2046 – writing martial novels :D The chinese title of this movie is Hua Yang Nian Hua. The Chinese title, Huayang Nianhua (translated in the subtitles as “Full Bloom” but more accurately meaning “those wonderful varied years”), is more suggestive of period nostalgia and the Shanghai association, pointing to an iridescent, kaleidoscopic age of bygone elegance and diversity. / You can view and purchase my other “Hua Yang Nian Hua” creations from my Zazzle Gallery: / /

  • This is the Glenelg pier, Adelaide. I spent at least 10 mins waiting for people coming and going to clear out so I could get a shot of the pier alone. As you can see, this didn’t happen. Turns out, I prefer the activity in this one! Added a texture from www.deviantart.com stock and blanched out the colour form both texture and photo. Added an omni filter for lighting effect and slight adjustment of contrast. • I love photographing my Father. There’s a lot of character to be captured in someone who’s lived for 70 years. / We all went to a local airshow today, & Dad I were drawn to the classic & vintage cars that were on display. / This one’s a ‘48 Ford Prefect. / Two classics full of character…. • Best on Full Size Image taken at Old Bedford Village, Bedford, Pennsylvania on October 10, 2009. There’s a wonderful sense of having stepped back in time here. Camera used Nikon D300, 18-200mm vr Nikon lens, shutter 1/250, ap f/10.0, exp 0.00, iso 640. Post processing included a light hdr from a single hand held image duped to evals of -2 and -4; a faint Orton; dodging, burning and a texture. My thanks to Ghostbones at Flickr for the texture.
