The Giants Causeway in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. This was taken at the very end of the large causeway about 30 minutes before sunrise on a very rainy day indeed. Signed giclee art prints available at www.henroben.co.uk
Waking up early isn’t my forté, but this magical sunrise pulled me out of bed and down to the river. The morning mists were rolling down and the water was dead calm, as if not wanting to disturb the day. The photo is cross-processed medium format velvia and retains some imperfections.

Enagh Lough, Derry, Northern Ireland. Lough – a body of water such as an inlet of the sea or, as in this case, a lake. / / Fuji Finepix s9600
The countryside near Derry City , Northern Ireland, late afternoon, November. / Nikon D50 50mm f1.8 lens / HDR photography
Derry City, Northern Ireland There is a green hill far away I may have uploaded a similar scene before, but bear with me. I’m really enjoying this hdr stuff. The was taken from the Walls of Derry. A late afternoon shot. / St Eugene’s is one of our two cathedral’s. This is the Catholic cathedral, built in the late 19th century. The Church of Ireland (Anglican) cathedral St Columb’s is 17th century. Every year there is a Two Cathedrals Festival with lot’s of fine music and a candlelit procession between the two. In the distance are the Donegal hills. / The hymn was written by Mrs Cecil Frances Alexander, while her husband was an Anglican Bishop of Londonderry in the 19th century. Nikon D50 50mm f1.8 lens /
The River Foyle, Derry City, Northern Ireland. / I live in a large housing estate on a hill overlooking the city, and this is the view from the top of our street Just one of many reasons not to move house. During the troubles, the media favoured us with the label “republican enclave”. I didn’t do a survey of my neighbours’ political leanings, and I didn’t know any terrorists. Got caught in plenty of crossfire, though. Very scary!! / These ridiculous labels like the above, and “loyalist enclave” gave no idea whatsoever of the ordinary man and woman, the silent majority, (and I mean majority,) who lived in areas of high unemployment and low income; and who did their best to keep body and soul together in the midst of violence and fear. / I salute them. I salute the parents, especially. I salute my parents. http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/backingcolor:white/product:greeting-card/view:preview/2329535-2-a-view-of-the-river.jpg!

The steepest street in Derry, and within the city walls. One of the main commercial and business centres, full of fine Georgian buildings. Prominent in the photo is the Guildhall and you can just see Shipquay Gate. Nikon D50, 50mm f1.8 lens. Single shot HDR converted to black and white.
The Dark Hedges. On a street close to Gracehill Golf Course, south of Ballycastle in Antrim, Northern Ireland. These are 300 year old beach trees and are getting to the end of their natural life span so they wont be around much longer.
A portrait version of this shot These are 300 year old beach trees and getting to the end of their natural life. When touring around Northern Ireland we were lucky enough to see a couple of photos of this place and eventually managed to find a toutrist info person that knew where they were. So with the sun low in a September sky we headed out and found possibly the most stunning bit of road I have ever been on in my life! Sony Alpha A200 18mm

Another photo taken on the historic Walls of Derry. The Derry Walls were built in the early 17th century, and are the only remaining complete city walls in Ireland. The old city of Derry is one of the finest examples of a walled city in Europe. Canon EOS 450D, 18-55mm lens. Tone mapped in Dynamic-Photo HDR, slightly desaturated and brown-toned Orton effect applied, and some film grain for atmosphere. /

Murlough beach in County Down, Northern Ireland on a very windy November morning. How any of this stayed sharp is beyond me – shielding the camera from the wind with my coat seems to have worked. / Canon 5D mkII 24-70 2.8L, ND8 filter plus a 3 stop grad. 10 second exposure. Zero common sense! Best viewed larger.
Sunrise on Murlough beach in County Down, Northern Ireland. Another stormy one – it soon poured down. / Canon 5D mkII 24-70 2.8L, 3 stop grad.
A section of the old Lagan Canal which was recently restored in Lisburn City, Northern Ireland. This is beside the city’s Civic and Arts Centre. A very cool misty December morning. / Canon 5D mk II 24-70 f2.8L. 3 stop ND grad. / No tripod – camera perched on a railing!
