  • Simply have fallen in love with my neighbours garden, every Spring she has undoubtably the best flowers in her garden in the street. She always allows me the privelege to photograph her beautiful flowers. I love her Black Eyed Susans the best, So here is a touch of Spring to come for everyone in the Northern Hemisphere;):) Rudbeckia hirta Native to North America, Black Eyed Susan are prolific wildflowers that have become popular in the home flower garden. It is also called Gloriosa Daisy with yellow, orange, and gold colors. It is very easy to grow perennial, requiring little attention to produce colorful blooms. Almost everyone knows this American wildflower, and it has all the lovely, warm color, daisy shape, easy to grow in any sunny place, needs little attention, great for bouquets or vases. There is a vining variety, which is also known as the “Clock vine”. Propagation: Black Eyed Susan are grown from seed. If started early in the spring, you may get blooms the first year. Black Eyed Susan seeds can be directly seeded into your flower garden as soon as the soil can be worked in the spring or later in the summer or fall for flowers next year. Black Eyed Susan plants grow 2-3 feet tall on long stems. If grown in flower gardens, space 1 to 1/12 feet apart. How to Grow Black Eyed Susan: Black Eyed Susan are very easy to grow. They like full sun. They will do well in average soils and even poor soils. They also tolerate dry soil conditions. While you do not need to water or fertilize Black Eyed Susan, a little care will be rewarded with more blooms. Once your Black Eyed Susan are established, they will grow well unattended. Separate the clumps after a few years or the plants will crowd each other out, resulting in smaller plants and flowers. Photo taken by Canon IXUS

  • Fire hydrants are a fairly universal part of the urban fabric, but these colorful fire hydrants from Asheville, North Carolina’s downtown are vibrant and memorable!

  • Obama Caution Sign with his famous phrase “Yes we can!” Check out my blog HERE

  • This was shot on the same morning as a bunch of my recent shots. The statue was erected to celebrate the 100th anniversary of life saving on North Wollongong Beach and the establishment of the surf club. I found the silhouette irresistable with those colours in the sky. The processing here was a little different from my usual approach. I bumped up the exposure using a curves adjustment and then boosted the heck out of the saturation to bring back the colour – the result is about what I was looking at and I’m really pleased that there’s a bit of light on the sand and grass at the base.. I also adjusted the other way a copy of the original and painted that back in using a layer mask to give definition to the highlights at the centre of the shot.. anyway – too much info ;-) Hope you enjoy!

  • I’ve been driving past that old, rusty, yellow ‘control tower’ near a light air craft strip for years. This is were the pilots hang out during Whale Shark Season when they do the spotting of the sharks and scenic flights. The light was right and I wanted do add a little more drama using a 15mm lens. Would make an excellent film set.
