  • A timber garden chair in corner of a garden, surrounded by green creeper that has also wound it’s way into the back of the garden chair. / Taken with a soft focus filter to add a dreamy look.

  • Very simple really, it’s the plot of Charade. I’m a big Audrey fan, but I hate all the cliche glitzy renditions of her, so I created my own. Besides she did more films than bloody Breakfast at Tiffany’s. other work by nook

  • The bravery of being out of range….... Well it’s one of those amazing statements that conjures up a similar image for everyone…WAR For me it was the pilots who were instructed to drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. But then I continued the train of thought…...... and as the song suggests, and Danny elaborated, we can all be accused of ‘The bravery of being out of range’. It applies to so much of our everyday life. If I had Scott’s talent I would have illustrated a woman giving birth whilst her partner looks on, a teacher in a classroom, or me! attempting to penitrate the bonds of the merry men (how do you illustrate that?). But I don’t have the talent, so what I have created comes back to my original thought….WAR. Sjem quoted “War is old men talking and young men dying” Odysseus, Troy (the movie). I love this statement but does it continue on from there? / Do we perpetuate the story by glorifying its devastation? poets are inspired to write poetry about it / historians are inspired to write documentries about it / film makers are inspired to make movies about it / artists are inspired to create art about it / musicians are inspired to play music about it / designers are inspired to design t-shirts about it (myself included) Maybe, in the end, we all encourage war one way or another – as artists, we speculate on an experience we haven’t had, and therefore are perhaps the truest version of the brave who are out of range. other work by nook

  • Key
    by nook

Unfortunately this isn’t particularly inspired. I’m ashamed to say I quite like the new range of Tiffany keys. After a quick search, before I uploaded, I found an already lovely key t-shirt by the talented Natalie Tyler ...but I thought, “hey, I’ve made it now and it looks a little different…right?” other work by nook

  • Taken with a Canon 50D, Canon 100 – 400 L series lens @ 400mm, F5.6 shutter speed 1/250 second ISO100, edited in Photoshop At the end of last year I went to a location called Donna Nook on the East Coast of England. Between December and February thousands of seals converge on the beaches to give birth to pups. It is an amazing sight, I will return again in the winter this year to view these beautiful animals again. Please view large!

Donna Nook National Nature Reserve (NNR) is probably the best place within the U.K. for photographing grey seals. Each year, as autumn rolls into winter, hundreds of grey seals begin hauling themselves out onto Donna Nooks’ sandbanks to give birth to their pups. Here the most important activities of the grey seal calendar are played out, giving photographers unprecedented opportunities to capture dramatic pictures of this spectacular period. Grey seal pups put on weight very quickly, feeding on their mother’s (called cows) fat-rich milk. Over just eighteen days they triple their weight (the suckling period). Cows stay with their pups during this period and do not feed, so they lose about 10lb in weight each day. Please view large!

  • Taken with a Canon 400D, Canon 100 – 400 L series lens @ 400mm, F5.6, shutter speed 1/500 second ISO100, edited in Photoshop Last December I visited Donna Nook on the East coast of England. Every winter a huge population of grey seals visit the beach to give birth to pups. The location is an RAF bombing range which ironically keeps the beach safe and undisturbed; the RAF do not actually bomb when the seals are there. All being well I will be visiting this location again this winter with some of the guys from rb if we can get time off work together. Please view large
