  • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Australian Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) The word “Koala” is an Aboriginal word meaning “no water”. Koala’s are nocturnal, tree dwelling marsupial mammals (this means it has a pouch in which to carry her young). They feed almost exclusively on the leaves of a few species of eucalpyt. They have long arms and powerful claws. This Koala in its own natural habitat on way to Cape Otway Lighthouse, Victoria.

  • I photographed this Atlas Moth (Attacus Atlas) at the Cockrell Butterfly Center of the Houston Museum of Natural Science. According to a museum guide, this was a rare sighting as the Atlas is nocturnal and seldom appears during midday hours. She said just about the only time she’d seen them was at opening in the mornings when some of these exquisite creatures are lying dead on the pathways. What a blessing to be able to see and photograph the Atlas in all its living glory! The Atlas Moth has the largest wing surface of all the moths and is called atlas because of the resemblance to maps in its wing patterning. If it were up to me, though, I’d call it a Totem Moth because its wings remind me of images you’d see on Native American Indian totem poles.

  • Ophelia lies down on a giant tree trunk and watch the clouds above her. When she is up there flying, the view and experience with the clouds is entirely different. Down where she is now, the clouds look puffy and cute, their ever changing forms fascinate her and tickle her sense of imagination. More owls should just pop out of their nests in the day time and admire the clouds :D / You can view and buy my other “Cloud Gazing (2)” creations at my Zazzle Gallery:

  • After making a few rounds of flight in the city suburbs, Ophelia decided to rest her wings. She found a balcony with little pots of sweet pink flowers and as usual started a long conversation with them that lasted late after midnight. It seemed that Ophelia liked befriending flowers than owls. What a peculiar owl! You can view and buy my other “Ophelia’s Pink Friends” creations at my Zazzle Gallery: / /

  • This is one of the many owls in my collection. This one looks like he has wisdom in abundance :D / / You can view and buy my other “Ancient Wisdom” creations at my Zazzle Gallery:

  • Welcome to Ophelia’s humble abode, a little hole of an old friendly oak tree. She welcomes you to join her for a cuppa tea anytime :D I’ve been searching for a tree hole like this for a long long time, was so happy to chance a tree(not oak tree….we dont have it in Singapore) with it near my place when I was back in Singapore for a short holiday. /

  • i have done a few fanatsy creatures in the past.. but never got a real response to them on my old site. after publishing my autumn spirit here though, and after having received such a nice response to him, i decided to give my creatures another try. the first one that ´came´to me yesterday was this here one: The Mustachioed Clipperowl – a nocturnal birdlike animal. it can fly, and is easily recognized by the large mustache hiding most of its face. the male is easily recognized by its pink feet – the female has purple ones – and his beak is a bit more white in colour. the female´s – one can be seen sleeping to the right of the male in front – beak is also of a much stronger purple hue than the male´s. as to the technique: the base of the image is a fractal, created in FraxPlorer. all the rest, painting, shape-changing etc. were done in PSP X. / MCN:C076E-C2A76-DA385

  • Courtesy Wikipedia here Antlions are a family of insects in the order Neuroptera with the scientific name Myrmeleontidae (sometimes misspelled as “Myrmeleonidae”); the most well-known genus is Myrmeleo. There are about 2,000 species. Strictly speaking, the term “antlion” applies to the larval form of the members of this family, but while several languages have their own terms for the adult, there is no widely used word for them in English. Very rarely, the adults are called “antlion lacewings”. The antlion larva is often called “doodlebug” in North America because of the odd winding, spiralling trails it leaves in the sand while looking for a good location to build its trap, as these trails look like someone has doodled in the sand. It is also sometimes called sand dragon. Antlions are worldwide in distribution, most common in arid and sandy habitats. They also are very feeble fliers and are normally found fluttering about in the night, in search of a mate. The adult is thus rarely seen in the wild because it is typically active only in the evening. They are highly active in desert regions and are a nuisance. They will deliver a small, mildly painful bite if given the chance to land on someone. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / ACRYLIC ART CALENDARS CARDS POETRY PHOTOGRAPHY – ANIMALS PHOTOGRAPHY -CANDID SHOTS PHOTOGRAPHY – CATS AND DOGS PHOTOGRAPHY – CONTEMPORARY WORK PHOTOGRAPHY – FLOWERS PHOTOGRAPHY – INSECTS PHOTOGRAPHY – TRADITIONALLY TURKISH PHOTOGRAPHY – TREE AND TREE PARTS T-SHİRTS —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- More products available / Why not follow me on / or join me at —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / PHOTOGRAPHY: INSECTS ANTLIONS / ARACHNIDS BEETLES BUTTERFLIES and MOTHS COCKCHAFER DRAGONFLIES FLIES GRASSHOPPER/LOCUSTS HONEY BEES MANTIS WASP —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- See more of taiche at ZAZZLE / Baby Custom T-Shirts :dress that baby up with a special design on a custom t-shirt, long sleeve or onesize / Kids Custom T-Shirts .from organic t-shirts to long sleeve shirts, boys, girls, and toddlers can fill their fashion needs with a one-of-a-kind custom t-shirts for kids. • Nocturne – a musical composition that has a romantic or dreamy character with nocturnal associations. This is the second in my Nocturne series which began with this piece: / This was created in Photoshop using my own photographs, layers, and the paint tool to create the moon(light) and bird. And I wrote a poem to be a part of this image: Please, whisper your secrets to me: / Ancient music of leaf and tree, / Shadow, darkness and cool moonlight, / Deep, sacred mysteries of Night. The time is now when dreams can fly; / Caress of Wind, Breath of the Sky, / Carry me to where I’ll be free, / And whisper your secrets to me. / / Should anyone be interested in this piece sans poem, please let me know – as I did a version without.

  • I love the way the trees lining the Cours Mirabeau in Aix-en-Provence, France are illuminated at night. The entire atmosphere of the place changes when the day ends. Nikon D90 18-105 mm VR lens / F5 1/6 @ 18 mm
