Oil Pastel and Acrylic on old wood with slight digital enhancements Ophelia, puzzled by the radical transformation that had taken place overnight to this butterfly friend of hers, thought to herself, “She was in a white thread-like casing yesterday, how did all that happen so fast? There must be something magical about that case!” This is inspired by a book Hope For The Flowers by Trina Paulus. This is a cute and yet thought provoking story about two caterpillars who because they mistake the meaning of their urge to get high, get entangled climbing a horrible “caterpillar pillar”. And for two caterpillars, we all know, surrendering to the cocoon is the only way to finally fly. Hope For the Flowers is a book that celebrates HOPE. My fave lines from the book is “How does one become a butterfly?” She asked pensively. “You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.” We are all meant to be as beautiful and free like the butterflies, that’s our destiny…as we free ourselves to be who we really are…and together with our innate talents,we bring hope to the world around us, bringing change inevitably around us :D / You can view and buy my other “Metamorphosis” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

Oil Pastel And Acrylic (With minor digital enhancements) Here’s Ophelia all dressed up for a party that she’s hosting! A party that celebrates all that life has to offer, both the good and not so good :D She’s wearing her new flower feather clips and a ribbon belt to adorn her waist. All who read this will be invited! A belief that Life is to be celebrated, not just the ups but the downs too. It is easier to give thanks and rejoice when things go well for us but can we still do the same when things dont turn out the way we want them to? In dry or in bountiful times, I keep reminding myself to count my blessings…to adopt the mindset of abundance and not of scacity. In fact, everyday can be a celebration of life…just take a few moments..and you will find that you are “richer” than you think you are :D You can view and buy my other “Celebration Of Life” products at my Zazzle Gallery:

Oil Pastel And Acrylic On Wood (With Minor Digital Enhancements) All of us need HOPE in our lives and these are some of my favourite quotes on that :D “We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars” – Oscar Wilde “Hope is the dream of a soul awake.” – A French Proverb “The very least you can do in your life is to figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is to live inside that hope.” – Barbara Kingsolver (Know of someone who needs the extra “lift” in his/her life? This is how my first serious painting looks like and I chose to paint an owl. That was like 6 years ago I think :D Very few had seen this. When I was painting this, I was thinking “If I were an owl, I would be able to hear the sweet whispers of lovers in the park.”...yep, in case you are wondering, those are sound waves, owls have such fantastic hearing that’s simply amazing!! I always treasure the beginner’s spirit and I kept reminding myself not to lose it….because once you become used to something, it loses that magic, It is now nicely framed and hanging in the most intimate part of my apartment. For those of you who may be curious to see how my owls look like now, you can check them out at my udonchow gallery here in RB :D / /
Oil Pastel And Acrylic And Minor Digital Enhancements Concept: This is one of the many in Ophelia’s Love Encounters Series, it’s her experience of many facets of this wonderful thing called LOVE.. This is what she has to say about love today : “Love means being surrounded by redbubblers everyday.” Time rockets! Had some pockets of reflection and guess what…have been here on RB for 2 months already, I just entered my 3rd month :D Life on RB has been so enjoyable and enriching for me but I have one major regret. That is I should have joined much earlier. I remembered when I first joined this community, Fa assured me that this is the most vibrant online community that she has ever experienced and that I would enjoy my stay here…and of course, she’s right!! As I am staying in a foreign country(I’m a Singaporean living in Thailand) and working alone most of the times, RB has given me much support in terms of creative expression and a great pool of friends whom I know care for me. I wouldnt dare ask for more :D Truly grateful for all the friends whom I have made over these months, friends who have constantly provided feedback and comments to my work, both here and in my smile4me gallery, who have favorited my works and exchanged numerous bmails with..I owe my beautiful stay in RB to all of you! This little piece of artwork is me saying THANK YOU to all you beautiful people out there!! :D /
