  • This little girl has not very happy after being told no she couldn’t have something and since my kids do the same thing I just had to capture the moment.

  • Collage on card / 140mm x 200mm In 1943, Australian artist Albert Tucker painted “Victory Girls” as part of his Images Of Modern Evil series. The girls in Tucker’s painting are gleefully surrendering their bodies to the advances of the sinister and grotesque Australian soldiers who were stationed in Melbourne at the time. Victory Girls can be seen here However, in my For Whom The Belle Tolls series, it is not their bodies that these girls are sacrificing to the occupying forces, instead it is their minds. The war has moved on from the battlefield, and is now played out in the domain of the media. They are now being ravished by information from broadcasts, newsfeeds, gossip magazines and billboards. And as in Tucker’s Victory Girls, they enjoy these perverse advances. Other works in the Series: For Whom The Belle Tolls #1 / For Whom The Belle Tolls #5 This work was exhibited in the 2005 Postcard exhibition at the Linden Gallery in St. Kilda, Melbourne, and was also included in issue 3 of No Tears magazine.

  • I took this after a friend challenged me to try still life techniques. I had fun with this but it required quite a lot of preparation- especially placing white board around the room to eliminate reflections in the mirror. I used the magnified side of the cosmetics mirror to make the lipsticks balanced in the frame, I shot in mirror lock up mode and used a handheld shutter release and tripod. I played for what felt like hours with different angles and setups. Keeping all this clean about drove me up the wall! / All this has made me appreciate the effort required in Still Life photography! Kudos to those amazing photographers. Best viewed in the larger format. Thanks for looking…

  • No man or woman is worth your tears the one who is will not make you cry. Taken Jan 21st 2009 Panasonic lumix dcm fz18 1/60s / 2.8 f / 4.6mm focal length / iso 400

  • Dumb as dirt, I know. But shooting this paired couple of Mallards while they did their best to look casual around all the turtles was fun. :-) These two seemed to know the huge snapping turtle from Sacramento’s McKinley Park Duck Pond. I’m sure they’d seen each other before but somehow doubt they’d ask her (as depicted elsewhere) to perform the marriage ceremony for them. Nevertheless, the fertile imagination of your intrepid photojournalist sprouted this title and concept. When I die, if I find out that I was RIGHT, you’ll know when you hear hysterical laughter coming from a very odd looking cloud… Nikon D80 with the Nikkor 70-300mm telephoto lens As featured in Odd One Out group!
