I know this is the same dead tree as in Nirvana but I’ve processed to quite differently. It was also taken an a different day in very different weather conditions and the sky was cloudy. / I’d like to know what you think please… / / / / / / / / / /
IN SEARCH OF NIRVANA / OIL ON STRETCHED CANVAS / $1800 US (16” X 20” ORIGINAL) / SIGNED DEDICATED PRINTS AVAILABLE “Come travel with me” she said “and we will find Nirvana”. “How far away is it”, I inquired? “It is just over the next hill” she exclaimed. And so I traveled on with my pilgrim friend. But as we crossed over each hill another appeared in the distance for us to travel over. No matter how much we walked we needed to walk more. Nirvana seemed to be just out of our reach. Hours turned into days, days into months, and months progressed into years and still this illusive goal was yet to be reached. / / Oddly, I never felt tired or discouraged as we traveled this road together. I began to realize how wonderful this trip was with the companionship of my friend. How wonderful I thought it is to have a friend to share this journey with. I noticed that this seemingly illusive goal of reaching Nirvana had become less and less important to me and that the journey itself had taken on a much greater importance. I was enjoying this adventure, this journey. So much was happening on this trek, this trek called life, that I began to wish that I never arrive at my illusive destination. I was experiencing so much and so much was happening that I finally concluded that “it is in the journey not the destination that I wished to be”. And now it is today and it is today that you are sharing my journey with me by reading this story and viewing my little oil painting. I want to thank you for the opportunity for us to spend a little time together. I hope as you part from this moment of viewing my work that you continue to travel and to share life’s journey with those you meet. It is in those moments of sharing that the real destination is to be found. visionary imagist “Joey”
This is my absolute favourite place to take infrared photographs. I visit here every so often. Last week I took the boys for a drive and while I took the photos Harry coloured in and Ethan had his midday nap (it’s wonderful when it works out like that). I was surprised to find the dead tree still in the middle of the river. It’s the same one as in Nirvana my alltime favourite IR shot. I just had to capture it again. This time from a slightly different angle, different water level and different processing – I didn’t want it to look the same as Nirvana. I hope I’ve achieved that. I’d love to hear your thoughts – should I take it down because it’s not as good as “Nirvana”?

Weather they are singing, screaming or just plain chatting non-stop… the voice of the toddler is one that is hard to ignore. This is my absolute favourite painting in the world… I did it in acrylic and pastels and it was the first time that I have ever used them. I think she is perfect and I hope that she brings some magic to your day too :-)
With this artwork in your space and in your heart, you shall never need to buy flowers again! That cheeky little toddler and the mischief she is planning! Where is her mother!
By special request and for all those other beautiful people who just must have the sun rising in the east :-) Love Tara.
That beautiful moment of true happiness when the artist actually gets to paint! Self Portriat of a happy moment. I hope that you are feeling like a bit of green :-) Love Tara.
We all know that life is a balancing act… we are often walking on a fine wire and weighing up our actions and reactions, do we soar or do we be safe in this moment? Know that onlookers are only watching as they try to find this same answer in their own act of life and are waiting to let out a cheer!
The way may seem endless and scary, but I’ll get there…someway, someday.
CHALLENGE WINNER in Look up in the sky challenge and FEATURED in That’s Entertainment group. April 2009 This is by far my most widely viewed image at JPG Magazine, with over 1,000 views. I also have a photo essay there, Serendipity: The Makings of Magical Sky showing how this sequence of events unfolded – and sharing how blessed I felt, not only to have witnessed the scene but to have my camera with me to capture it. For some reason, I never posted this image here at Red Bubble earlier. Perhaps I had not found a reason to. Now I have, thanks to Nirvana! —- Basically, this was what happened… On 14 March 2008, a whole series of unlikely coincidences led me to take this set of photographs that made me feel truly lucky and blessed. That day, I was to meet some friends for dinner. I was early, so I decided to take a different bus along a different route for a change of scenery. It meant that I had to get off the bus midway and walk some distance to catch a connecting bus at another bus stop. I got off the bus and walked along a small side road, to be away from the traffic. It was just past 5 pm. The sun was still high, and shining brightly. At the end of this road was a long, dark, almost black retaining wall. I thought the shadows of the ‘Stop’ sign, lamp post and palm leaves cast on the dark wall would make an interesting image. I took out my camera and snapped two shots. But then the shadows faded. I turned back to look at the sun, to see when it might emerge to once again cast those shadows. The sun had gone behind a huge cloud, forming a brilliant silver lining. It was nice, although not fantastic. Anyway, I had my camera with me. I shot a few. Then I noticed something unusual. Above one corner of the cloud was a bright, glowing disc. An unidentified flying object? I half hoped it was. I shot a few more. As I shot, the disc grew larger and more colorful. Somehow, I wasn’t as anxious about capturing the moment. I simply stood and watched in awe, raising my camera to shoot only when there was a significant change in the marvellous sky painting before me. It was a quiet road and I was mostly all to myself. The magic took about 20 minutes to reach its climax and then another 10 minutes to slowly fade away. Actually it lingered somewhat longer, but I had an appointment to keep. I was already late!
This complements White asleep – the two images taken just seconds apart. I guess the stock is a light sleeper ;-) Jurong Bird Park, Singapore, October 2008 —

It is a simple cup of tea… and yet in that moment of holding and nurturing it in ones hands… we are connected deep within ourselves… we find comfort within our tea and within each other’s company over a simple pot of herbs. Maybe it is because it is cultivated from the earth, or is there something more sacred of the ritual of tea?
A gifted piece for my friend Martha from deviantART who made me a gorgeous stamp! Thanks!!!!! Exclusively UF 5.02 Full view / Thanks for any comments, critiques or favs!
