When I drew that Ninja Chicken sometime last year I had no idea I would end up putting it on t-shirts that would actually be bought by people. I’m so happy people like it so much! :) / Oh, and I would love to see pictures of my Ninja Chicken out in the real world :)

If you grew up in Melbourne during the 60s, you won’t need to ask what I’m talking about. / The Samurai was the show everybody watched after school. Shintaro, the heroic samurai, fought the evil ninjas of old Japan, dispatching at least a couple in every episode. The show had some sort of magic to it. Even though it was quite new it looked years and years old. And it was dubbed of course, which made it even more mysterious. / Earlier this year I rediscovered The Samurai at my local video library (Planet, Beaufort St Mount Lawley, excellent range movies, music, books). I’m pretty sure that Shintaro wouldn’t get within coo-ee of an afternoon slot these days: way too violent (for a generation raised on video games – yeah, right), but worse than that, it’s black and white! Overall the show has survived well. A little corny at times, but the adventure is still there. And now as an adult I can appreciate aspects that I didn’t notice as a kid. In every series Shintaro came up against a different group of ninjas; they would meet at the beginning of each episode, their numbers steadily dwlindling as the Samurai sent them to join their honourable ancestors. There’s more information here / As a footnote, there was one series that Channel 9 didn’t broadcast back then. I know that from the opening credits – in which a ninja’s severed arm flops to the grass… And if you’re wondering what got me on to this subject – here’s your answer. /

The Bonsai tree he is perched on is that tree. after many battles the tree has been reduced to to nothing but a branch. This last branch has become Jack’s home. From’He Bites.‘ / Jack Ninox is a storng Warrior Owl from the Ninox Ninja Owl Family. He is the last born and serves no purpose other than to preserve and restore the family name. From’Owls and gods‘ / Fuji God has been a task unmet by any Ninja Owl, but in order to bring life back to the family name Jack must defeat the beast. From’Owls in the Subway‘ Jack Ninox has wound up in Canada, and is very lost. Far from his roots he has found his way into a subway system looking for odd jobs.

So I’ve been selling a few t-shirts and am stoked on the fact that RedBubble is doing it’s thing and making everyone an extra dollar or two, whilst showering the world with artistic love in the form of t-shirts (in my case thusfar). I decided to venture from RedBubble and submit one of my t-shirt designs to Threadless for some voting love in the hope of getting printed, so if you are on Threadless then feel free to vote for my Ninja Love t-shirt design… and/or use the ultra-fancy banner options to hep me promote the design. It’s difficult, but it’s not what bothers me. / The fact that they removed the “lock on” ability which helps with bosses is just plain stupid. How could Tecmo make such a moronic mistake? / Other then that it’s a good game. But it makes me want to trade in this game and get a better one like Super Mario galaxy. It’s one of those things that destroy a really really good game. Also, I’m over at my relatives. / So far, people have tried to talk to me while I’m obviously concentrating on something and hten yell at me when I don’t respond. Are you that desperate to speak to me about things I don’t really care about right now? / I wish I’d stayed home. I’m thinking evil zombie demon giraffes (I’ve had my share of freaky nightmares) but basically I think something just breaks in their mind and they turn evil. What’s your favouritest tshirt ever? One summer when I was about 8 I used to wear one of my dad’s t-shirts as a dress. I really loved it because it was so weird – it was red but said “Blue Marine” and even with my non-existing English skills I knew what blue meant and found it hilarious that the t-shirt wasn’t actually blue. Ah, yes, what a joy it was to be a little kid with no sense of anything. Anyway, if I had to pick a favourite t-shirt out of my wardrobe this very minute I wouldn’t be able to decide. It’s quite possible that I’d end up with one of my black H&M tees with some random graphic design on them just because they’re so nice to wear. What do you do when no-one’s looking? Everything else than tidying. Count all my shoes or stick things on my walls or draw random pictures. Or play The Sims 2. It’s my secret obsession, except it’s not so secret. But I don’t do it when people are looking. What are the simple things that tend to be overlooked these days? Things like grammar. We all know it’s there and have been taught how it works and yet some people decide to ignore it completely. When was the last time you cried with laughter? Hmm, possibly when I was on the phone with my best friend and we were talking about eagles. We laughed SO much! And yes, you totally had to be there :P How did you come across the bubble? What made you stick around? I randomly came across a link to someone’s profile when browsing around the Danish forum Tegnebordet.dk I’m a member of and thought “Hey, this looks nice! Why have I never seen it before, I’ve been looking for a place like this for ages!” (referring to the nice t-shirt making and the fact that it was international) so I decided to try it out for a bit, uploaded some work, made a t-shirt and stuff. On my second day I suddenly had three things featured on the homepage and people seemed to be like “Congrats!!” so I figured that maybe it wasn’t just something they did to new people. Also, on here everything seems so much more casual than on other art forums I’ve been on. On other sites I’ve seen people saying “If you don’t have anything constructive to say about my art, then don’t bother” while here you don’t need to say more than “Nice” for it to be a useful comment. I love that. Why does the world need creativity? It would be rather sad if there was no creativity whatsoever. Imagine how dull houses would look if they were all just huge blocks of concrete and how boring life would be without art and music and even interesting food. Clothes would also be boring and tv would be no use as a source of entertainment. Basically, everything would be missing the fun. What do you do better than anyone else in the world? Make lists of everything and anything. Dvds, shoes, things to bring on holiday, things not to bring on holiday, things I need to buy when I move out etc. I do it all the time so that must be the one thing I’m better at than anyone else :P Where’s the best place you’ve ever been? I’ll have to say Scotland because they have my boyfriend and Cadbury chocolate, what more could I possibly want? ;P Although I also loved Greenland’s icebergs and how the sun never set in Spitzbergen. However, it was very cold there, so yeah, Scotland it is. How do you see the next five years? For me as a person? Working, drawing, more drawing and going to uni to study digital art. But I believe firstly they would finally make peace with the Pirates and together they would open a chain of highly successful clothing shops called “ARRRH You Being Severed”. The ninja sales assistant appears next to you, silent and deadly, causing you to mess yourself and immediately need new pants. Who needs a big old hug right now? I don’t think there is anyone who wouldn’t like (ok need) a big old hug right now. Everyone who reads this should hug the nearest person or the next person they see. Preferably taking them by surprise. This will make the world happier and little more confused. Do it…you know you want to…NINJA HUUUUUG! What’s your favouritest tshirt ever? There are so many wonderful creative and witty shirts on RedBubble I couldn’t pick a favorite. It is both upsetting (damn I wish I thought of that!) and inspiring how talented these people are. When have you laughed the hardest? What’s so funny? I can’t remember anything specific. I laugh at most things. Sometimes til I cry or start hyperventilating. A few favorites are: unexpected funny noises, people falling down, and sudden and unexplained outburst of shouting. Where does your art come from? Late at night when I am trying to get to sleep they come in groups slamming into my brain and demand to be made then and there. I promise them I will make them as soon as I get a spare moment and that I will not forget about them. Lots of ideas are still waiting. Everyday inspires more. Where would you like your art to go? Everywhere. I have ideas for furniture, toys, packaging, fashion, animations and games. And there are so many more things I would like to try. For the moment I’m focusing on my illustration. What is the greatest cold hard fact example of evolution? I’m pretty sure evolution isn’t cold and hard it’s probably more mushy and warm…like a nice stew. I think the best example is that there is stuff still around. If things couldn’t adapt they wouldn’t be here. Ideas, technology, life, everything evolves. If it doesn’t change it gets left behind. What did you want to be when you were ten years old? Probably a werewolf or another creature that didn’t have to go to school. What did I want to be when I grew up when I was 10? A comic book artist and I would still like to be one. If you were asked to put together a time capsule to be opened in 100 years, what would you put in it? Lets see: 1 Mini Keg, 2 Bags of chips, Lots of Assorted Candy, Confetti, Ridiculously Oversized and Elaborate Pirate Hats, Plastic Cups, Balloons, 6 Folding Chairs, and a tiny computer with every funny cat video ever put on YouTube. Cause you’ve just found and dug up a capsule that’s been in the ground for 100 years and you’re damn well gonna wanna celebrate! You’ve just been made leader of the free world. How might your acceptance speech go? MWAHAHAHAHAHAH!... now that I got that out of the way… Thank you for this honor; it will be my privilege to guide you all on the path of not doing stupid stuff and the brighter future for all…blah blah blah… FreeWorld….
