  • I was in Butterfly Farm Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to gather some photos for my advertising assignment. And I was totally taken away by how the Red-eared Turtles were staring at the sky, as if there was something fascinating going on in the sky. Red-eared Turtles also known as Red-eared Sliders ( scientific name: Trachemys scripta elegans), native to the Southern United States. They are mass-produced in SE Asia for the pets market of the US and Europe.(Information provided by Thomas. Thank you for helping me to understand this species better.)

The Memory Of Storms The great summer thunderstorms of my childhood / Seem far distant now. / Perhaps another young memory / Distorted through the filter of time. / Like long endless days of carefree existence / So hard to belive that they ever were there. But now, there are other storms that cross / The horizon of my life. Storms of anger at injustice. / Dark fleeting clouds of doubt. / Lightning strikes of irrational pain. / Destructive floods of tears descending / From the Mountains that seem, sometimes / To block out the sky. But after the storm comes the / Break in the Clouds. / The sunlight of you, being there for me. / And the gentle breeze of your love / Blows the final clouds away. / Dave Photogenique —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—--

  • This shot was taken on the way home from a motorcycle trip to Dayton, OH. My buddy was getting a little ticked off at my wanting to stop to take this shot, as we tried to outrun the rain. Am I glad we stopped !!! This looked like an old church, that someone then had used as a residence for years. I LOVE the red leather chair on the porch, and the sky was just perfect for HDR. Taken with Nikon D300 and Tokina 12-24mm lens. Post processing included HDR treatment, and some dodge & burn.

  • The Buttes at Monument Valley are immediately recognisable icons of the American south west. Taken just prior to sunset with a Nikon D70

  • This image of the Right Mitten framed in between two rocks shows the shadow of the Left Mitten falling across it. The Sky was doing some amazing things behind me and I noticed that most people had truned for the sunset. I steedfast remained shooting into the park. The change in colour taking place in the Valley as the sunset came closer was amazing. The right rock is slightly burned in but I am not one to play in Layers. This is a 3 image HDR given only a slight adjustment. The resulting image was then processed in CS3 with a slight adjustment to straighten the horizion and curves to add a little extra contrast. All 3 images to make the HDR were shot with a Nikon D70

  • Red Lily Macro Nikon D90 / Nikkor Micro Lens 105 mm / F/3.2 / 1/200 sec / flash does fire

  • This photo has not been cross-processed properly, apparently. However, I’d never heard of cross-processing until recently. I’ve read that the term started by developing color print or slide film in the wrong chemicals – for example, color negative film in slide chemicals or slide film by the color negative process. This causes wild color and contrast shifts and requires lots of trial and error. for more, see Dana DiPasquale’s forum page. Apparently a group exists for cross-processing experts, as well. / / However, playing with the RGB channels certainly stretched my tendency for more realistic, staid photos! I played with this photo last night using Sue Wickham’s method and the tutorial that Mary Campbell posted. I used curves and RGB channels in Photoshop and Nikon’s Capture NX2.1 software. / / This is the Capture NX2 version, with a bit of a vignette blur from efex. Original: Nikon D200, Nikkor 70-300mm, 145mm, f/5.6, 1/1000sec, -0.3ev., ISO 200, manual exposure, / Converted from 12-bit RAW to jpeg. Manfrotto tripod. / 2025×3037px
