  • Close your eyes / Feel the ocean where passion lies / Silently the senses / Abandon all defences A place between sleep and awake / End of innocence, unending masquerade / That’s where I’ll wait for you Hold me near you / So close I sear you / Seeing, believing / Dreaming, decieving A place between sleep and awake / End of innocence, unending masquerade / That’s where I’ll wait for you Sleepwalker seducing me / I dare to enter your ecstacy / Lay yourself now down to sleep / In my dreams you’re mine to keep (Sleepwalk with me…) Sleepwalker seducing me… Nightwish Made with Apophysis

  • Toll no bell for me Father / But let this cup of suffering pass from me / Send me no shepherd to heal my world / But the Angel – the dream foretold / Prayed more than thrice for You to see / The wolf of loneliness in me / ...not my own will but Yours be done… You wake up where’s the tomb? / Will Easter come, enter my room? / The Lord weeps with me / But my tears fall for you Another Beauty / Loved by a Beast / Another tale of infinite dreams / Your eyes they were my paradise / Your smile made my sun rise Forgive me for I don’t know what I gain / Alone in this garden of pain / Enchantment has but one truth: / I weep to have what I fear to lose You wake up where’s the tomb… “I knew you never before / I see you never more / But the love the pain the hope O beautiful one / Have made you mine ‘till all my years are done” Without you / The poetry within me is dead / Nightwish Made with Apophysis

  • Acrylic on board. Based on the beautiful song of the same name written by Mr. Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish. Their music is a neverending source of inspiration for me. I wanted to give something back… “Born from silence, silence full of it / A perfect concert my best friend / So much to live for, so much to die for / If only my heart had a home Sing what you can`t say / Forget what you can`t play / Hasten to drown into beautiful eyes / Walk within my poetry, this dying music / - My loveletter to nobody” A lonely soul… An ocean soul…”

  • A painting I did which will be used as part of the logo for the new International Nightwish Fanclub. / Acrylic on Board

  • 'Nightwish' in Concert, Brixton

As soon as I finished taking snaps of the Monsters and Aliens Premiere...

As soon as I finished taking snaps of the Monsters and Aliens Premiere last Wednesday, I headed off to watch a band called ‘Nightwish’ play at the Brixton Academy. They’re from Finland, and their genre is ‘Symphonic Metal’. With an iPod already containing the likes of Beethoven, Taylor Swift, Def Leppard, Lidnsay Lohan, Marilyn Manson, John Williams, Limp Bizkit, Jay Chou, Hans Zimmer and Tiziano Ferro, why wouldn’t there be a Symphonic Metal band from Finland? And why wouldn’t I see them in concert? They were… well….. loud. But good. / “We’re the lead-in band and we’re called ‘Pain’, but we’re here to tell you that health and safety is no laughing matter. If you see anything dangerous please let the management know. And now, here’s our next song, called ‘Hunting You Down To Kill You’. Rock on!!” / A large anchor and the main battle theme from ‘Crimson Tide’ – it can only be your favourite Symphonic Metal band from Finland. Live in concert / They’ve sold more than 4million albums and their lead guitarist has a blonde dual-pronged beard. Who are you to deny their awesomeness? / Although the lady lead vocalist and the dude with the beard are the most ‘prominent’ members of the group, the driving force (lyricst and composer) of the band is the keyboard player. (could you at least try to look interested?) / “If your aggregate number of body piercings and tattoos exceeds 12 then put your hands UP IN THE AIR!!” / “To those of you cheering, whistling, singing, drinking alcohol, taking photos and illegal recordings and having a great time: Woooo!!!! To those of you drinking tea, would you please stop making that clinking noise with China? It’s really off-putting. Thanks!!!” Anette Olzon is a Swedish singer who replaced prior singer Tarja Turunen after Tarja was kicked out of the band. / “I just lost feeling to most of my body. Is this dry ice or liquid nitrogen?” Nightwish’s head Tuomas Holopainen is a big fan of movie scores, hence the symphonic aspect to their music (which is why I quite like some of the stuff they do) / “I’ll be honest and say this fire is kind of out of control right now and our lead guitarist appears to be on fire, but we’re going to keep singing and work it into the performance somehow. Woo!!” (I just want to add that the pyrotechnicist(s) at the concert were top-notch and nobody appeared to be in any danger) / “And now we’re gonna do our version of The Locomotion!! No, seriously, this next song is called ‘Master Passion Greed’ and it’s pretty loud.” Interior arenas kind of amplify loud music, I’ve found. / “Let’s see your camera’s exposure setting cope with this!!” Insofar as shooting conditions were concerned this was a pretty tricky one. / ” ‘If you wanna know, if he loves you so, it’s in his kiss’ – shut up Tuomas, we’re doing this song” Annette Olzon would be skirting with disaster at this kind of move. / “Thanks for the love, you’ve been a great audience. You’re going to have to face the streets of Brixton now, while our heavily armed and reinforced tour bus will get a police escort back to a nearby safe area. Good luck!!” Well, that was a nice change from the everyday. The music was loud but okay (some of it was a bit too loud, if I’m honest), the fans were kind of intimidating but certainly appeared friendly enough, and I’m looking forward to the band’s next studio album, especially if they do that thing they did with their last one and include a free disc of all the instrumental versions of their songs. The only three downsides : I had to sacrifice my stool, which didn’t survive the couple of hours it was left outside in the streets of Brixton, and I lost my headphones and their precious foam earbuds that you can no longer buy in the UK because they contain some kind of weird flame-retardant bromide chemical (separate rant may follow) ...And of course there’s the damage done by revealing some of the artists on my iPod playlist! Next up : more movie premieres!
