  • Taken in Ely – at nightfall…the setting sun was momentarily hidden behind this sign and I though it looked awesome – nothing has been touched in this shot – completely natural….which i found amazing to be in at the time.

  • A ingle light bulb on the Bolte Bridge in Melbourne is blown as dusk descends in the background.

  • It was a quiet Christmas for my husband and me, the first one we’ve spent alone in our 35 years of marriage and 58 years of life. We spent the last daylight hours of our Savior’s birthday at Lake Martin, in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, and this is the scene we viewed. I’ve named it Silent Night in the Deep South, a quiet ending to a quiet and peace-filled day.

  • This apartment building awaits demolition more than three months after an earthquake devastated Peru’s coastal city of Pisco on 15 August 2007. Dust still hangs in the air, giving an eery glow to the streets as daylight fades, a legacy of more 100,000 buildings that were destroyed or seriously damaged in the two minutes when the earth literally shook. Carlos, the taxi driver whose car can be seen in the base of this image went out of his way to show us this building. The house where he lived with his young son, a few miles from this spot, was one of the many that no longer stands. The halo around the lamp is an effect of the dust in atmosphere (and not a digital manipulation as some might think). Its visibility is enhanced by the slow shutter speed necessary to capture such an image as the sun had long since disappeared below the horizon. The building is truly leaning, a result of the earthquake that destroyed so much of this city, including the lives of four individuals who were in the lower floor (now destroyed) of this apartment building when the earth started to shake. All artists proceeds from sales of RedBubble prints from this image will be used to assist those, like Carlos, who have lost their homes to rebuild. / This image was recently selected for exhibition in Melbourne’s Brunswick Street Gallery. It is also included in the America del Sur – 2009 Calendar, available here. / /

  • SUNDOWN THROUGH THE TREE TOPS

  • It was getting very dark outside. I fooled with the exposure after the fact, but I really preferred the trueness of dusk. It’s bloody cold outside… and these delicate little things have to spend the night out there. LavenderMoon~

  • 16×20 Oil on Canvas – 2007. Painted from memory of historic downtown Pensacola, FL as seen driving home from work in the rain at nightfall.

Strange how the image I intend to make is never the final result. But I’m usually happier when that happens… Endless Silence by ATB ....Stock Credits…. / Sky / Model / Stock copyrights remain the property of their respective owners.

  • The close of a rather long, hot Summer’s day at The Dell at Clifton Springs. / I was reminded of the lyrics of the old Platters hit when I saw these evening shades. The Platters – Twilight Time Lyrics Heavenly shades of night are falling / It’s twilight time / Out of the mist your voice is calling / It’s twilight time / When purple colored curtains / Mark the end of the day / I hear you my dear at twilight time Deepening shadows gather splendor / As day is done / Fingers of night will soon surrender / The setting sun / I count the moments darling / Till you’re here with me / Together at last at twilight time. Pentax istDS Camera – Three exposures bracketed to create an HDR image.

  • Look to this day! / For it is life, / The very life of life. / In its brief course / Lie all the verities and realities / Of your existence. / For yesterday / Is already a dream / And tomorrow / Is only a vision… / But today, well lived, / Makes every yesterday / A dream of happiness, / And every tomorrow / A vision of hope. / from a Sanskrit poem~ / /

  • All is quiet when night falls / nothing to hear not even a bird’s call / the moon shines brightly the flowers glow / a butterfly hovers its wings on show / time to rest its sees a leaf / insects retreat it is time for sleep….. A pastel drawing with soft chalk pastels and prismacolour pencils on Black Acid Free paper.

  • With gentleness, in your mind, / Tinting it all with feelings, / Every emotion of human kind. / Be willing to feel every heart, / And the desires it contains, / Including every nuance, / The joy, as well as the pain. / Dont forget to use all colors, / The pastels, tints, and hues, / That represent the wholeness / That Great Mystery can imbue. / Then sculpt the shapes of destiny, / The patterns great and small, / Weaving dark and light in unity, / Yet, unfolding within the all. / But what is the difference / In this world, and yesterday’s? / It is the final ingredient / That changes our former ways? / Reclaimed will and allowing / Makes the tomorrow….stand apart. / Unbound freedom of expression, / Illumination….the victory of the heart. / Jamie Sams / /

  • Mother and child Great Blue Heron as night falls . . . I thought of the song, “Help me make it through the night” while I worked on this piece. I’d be remiss if I didn’t give my husband Tommy credit for this photo. He saw the mother and child as he was driving in St. Mary Parish. He pointed them out to me, turned the vehicle around, and positioned the truck so I could get this shot. Without his keen eyes, I would have missed this endearing scene. Thank you, Tommy; I couldn’t do it without you!

  • night falls over the winter beach trees next to the flooding river. / PP with Flypaper Textures
