3d rendered image of spheres descending into the sea at night
While on a night walk on a cold crystal night durning the past holiday season, I was struck by the warm glow of the lights from the porches of nearby homes. Hurrying home I started this painting on a panel that had been prepared for another work and had it near completion in one long setting. Not greatly detailed but it caught some of the mood that motivated the attempt. Acrylic on covered wood panel.

Taken Just south of Winnipeg Manitoba Canada at 5:00PM December 30th 2008. That is a tiny crescent moon in The Sky! MY BUBBLESITE
Sunset in Negril, Jamaica. This whole trip for me was about learning how to compose my images. This one in particular I focused on the sun being framed between the palm trees. Taken with the “foliage” setting on my camera with just a little boost with color in digital editing to enhance it.
According to the Greek legends, Acteon was a hunter who happened to find the goddess Diana bathing at a pool in the woods. Furious at the intrusion, she cursed the young man, turning him into a deer so that he could not tell anyone else that he had seen her naked. The version of the story that inspired this image came from Ovid’s Metamorphoses, which ended quite badly for poor Acteon. Ink drawing with digital color, 2006, part of a series. This image is one of many story images of birds and animals featured in my calendar Legendary Tales: Myths and Legends This piece was featured in the !Inspired Art! group
Long exposures at night I love. Went to a local lookout recently to play around with the traffic flow. After 15 minutes and a few good results later, I was getting bored. Boredom lead to playing and this is the result…all in camera, no post processing on this at all. So how…Nikon D700 with fixed 105mm lens, 100 ISO, 30 second exposure @ f/18 and all on a tripod using manual focus. For the last 10 seconds of the shot, I rotated the focus ring back and forward from one extreme to the other slowly and with care to avoid any motion blur…this is what showed up. If you take a close look you can see the shape of the aperture blades in the light beams, at least I think that’s what it is anyway. I think I will call it the rock-a-bye-baby technique! Now showing in a calendar here…

Rota Island / Northern Mariana Islands Here you will find palm fringed beaches with virtually no one around, unbelievable diving, pristine waters and incredible volcanic formations. Located along the Marianas Trench which is the deepest known part of the world’s oceans, and the deepest location on the surface of the Earth’s crust. / The trench is about 2,550 kilometres (1,580 mi) long but has a mean width of only 69 kilometres (43 mi). It reaches a maximum depth of about 11,034 metres (36,200 ft) at the Challenger Deep, a small slot-shaped valley in its floor, at its southern end. Life on this island is friendly and unhurried and the hospitality is as unforgettable as the magical sunsets. Rota Island is a natural playground with around 3000 inhabitants and is known by many to be Micronesia’s best-kept secret Rota (Chamoru: Luta) also known as the “peaceful island”, is the southernmost island of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the second southernmost of the Marianas Archipelago. It lies approximately 40 miles north-northeast of the United States territory of Guam. Songsong village is the largest and most populated followed by Sinapalo village (Sinapalu). In 1521, the first European to see Rota, was the lookout on Magellan’s ship Victoria, Lope Navarro. However, Magellan’s Armada of three ships didn’t stop until they reached Guam, so the first European to arrive in Rota (in 1524), was Spanish navigator Juan Sebastian Elcano, who annexed it together with the rest of the Marianas Archipelago on behalf of the Crown of Spain. Industrial Estate at Night in Rotterdam
Large canvas painting of a beach sunset in acrylic. Painted for a friend’s birthday. I have already painted a similar painting in watercolour. I am pleased with this version. I love sunsets and sunrises with the warm colours, as does my dear friend and here’s hoping she will like this special gift when she opens it on her birthday on Boxing Day!
