The last strike for the night! Taken on one side of a valley where 5 roads intersect hence the name Bee Hive…
I missed a fantastic sunset, and an incredibly intense lightning storm. By the time I got to my chosen vantage point, I was left with the remnants of both. © Sara Lamond 2007. Huge lightning bolt striking in Cave Creek, Arizona.
just another one from my lightning category
A widespread thunderstorm out to sea, seen from Sawtell. There was a lot of activity – all very distant, and many discharges both within the thunderheads and below. / / .......................................................................................... / Image Copyright Duncan Waldron © 2007 / This image may not be reproduced without permission / .......................................................................................... / /

Captured in Cave Creek, Arizona, this was at the end of a short but powerful storm. The lightning was much too close, couldn’t stand with the tripod, just ran to it between strikes. Didn’t get too many keepers that night, but was happy with this one. Wish I had a better foreground, but sometimes you have to take what you can get. / / Other lightning shots: / / / /
Hardly any retouching. This is what it looked like. OTHER BEACH SHOTS: / /
The wind was howling, the snow hurt my face, and then I saw this doorway to a haven. A very welcome sight that evening… This photo won first place in the Challenge: Welcoming Light, in the / “Mood and Ambience” group 4/23/09. Thank You!
Lightning Storm I followed 200km from Murray Bridge to Keith in 2007 / South Australia / I was rumaging around in my backups and found it & thought I must ReBubble this one … Now back to what I was looking for :) Copyright Wayne Bigg All Rights Reserved. / Do not use, replicate, manipulate, redistribute, or modify my photography without my express consent.

Again last light on my most recent visit to Mannum on the River Murray. Thanks to Dave from the Mannum Motel for taking me to this spot as part of their photography tours setup. An amazing sky and sundown all at the same time. The Murray even though under stress continues to serve as the main lifeblood of this region. There is still plenty to see, do, and places to visit so don’t give up on the people along the whole Murray who need us to keep on visiting to keep their businesses alive…
Part of the Sea Storm series shot off Bundeena Cliffs Royal National Park just south of Sydney. / The blur of the clouds is their movement over the 30 second exposure – more clouds start sweeping in as the storm gathers greater momentum. / This shot fits between this one and this one
It has been wonderful month of stormy weather and rain in the desert. Captured tonight, just outside my back gate. I had a wonderful time sitting and gazing open-mouthed at the spectacular lightning show that unfolded before my eyes. This image features one of my favourite kurkara (desert oak trees) silhouetted against the stormy night sky. As an added bonus tonight, I captured these images whilst listening to the incredible soundtrack of frogs singing in the desert – a rare and wonderful sound. These little fellas spend most of the time burrowed under the bark of trees or in the earth… just waiting for the rains to fall again. What a special treat to hear them tonight! Worth the click to Large – many more stars await you. Fourth in the Sea Storm series shot off Bundeena Cliffs Royal National Park just south of Sydney. It was quite a sight watching the storm gather momentum under this brilliant starlit sky. This shot is actually the third in the sequence and comes between this one and this one Canon 30D / Tv: 20secs / Av: f/3.5 / ISO: 800
The lightning was elusive, even though I was there for a long time, Brisbane from Kangaroo Point
...the sky sings its love to the sea. And what a song it sang this night. Fifth in the Sea Storm series, shot off the Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park just south of Sydney. This is actually fourth in the sequence and comes between Night Blaze and the Rapture Just click on each pic if you want to follow its link. The evening of the 12th of August 2009, a string of storms from the Gold Coast to Gympie in South East Queensland, many cells with hail. Luckily for us, there was no hail, but the light show was wonderful. This shot, a 30 second exposure, caught 3 separate lightning strikes, and the one to the left of the shot, I think was 3 or more strikes in quick succession. The others up at the lookout at the time even said to me “WOW Did you get that???”.. It was quite blinding and long. Laguna Lookout, Noosa Heads, overlooking Noosaville and Tewantin. The Noosa River can be seen to the right. Mount Cooroy in the middle of the shot. Canon 5D Mk II, 50mm, 16:9 Crop. Available Large, and best viewed Large of course!
Lightning photograph taken from Boulters Hieghts in Bunbury. Photo taken on 12 November 2009 at 1.40am. Camera settings f8 for 30 seconds.
