Taken on the southern end of Palm Beach, NSW right on dusk.

Sitting on the beach in paradise. Preparing to watch some fireworks. When you look in the sky, and see beautiful summer moon rising over the palm trees. Oh what a beautiful sight it is. Even more so, it is true romance filling the air.

This is the Dubai marina was created from scratch in the last 3 years.. now there are 100+ tall buildings there, this lake is man made , there are many man made lakes in Dubai now days ,water front view seems to be a good selling / renting point for many, and they are still building more and more. you will see more in my photo gallery of the same place , see it in” view large” for best viewing.

This awesome palm was in our villa complex….I waited until the light from the moon and the moon itself were in position before taking this shot….a slight sea breeze give the shot some motion….. Ophelia gazes in wonder at these orange palm seeds that are cascading so beautifully from the palm tree. “My seed friends…..you are of the same colour as my eyes, I’m sure looking at you all make my eyes look more orange than they already are!” Ophelia hooted excitedly at the seeds. FROM THE OLD DESERT RAT: Back when I was a kid, / just the scent of the / blooming citrus / would make / you drunk. Back when I was a kid, / Palm Springs was / always moving. / Sand blew / all over. The wind blew twice a / year in Palm Springs, / six months south, / then six north. We lived with granparents, / my family and I, when I / was a kid down in / my desert. That part of my life was / what made me love / wind-whipped / palm trees. That sound meant I was / safe, loved, sleeping in / in a dresser drawer / when I was tiny. And sleeping beside my / grandmother when I / was a young girl, / I was safe. I was safe. Dayonda A fractal from the 1960s made in a nifty little program that I can’t remember the name of—If you look at it closely, it’s just a bunch of little pictures. Back off from it and you’ll see the whole picture- the palm tree. This is not my photo, it’s a clip-art item that came with one of my art programs. However, I’m the one that did the crazy-quilt optical thing with it. -=DS

I always wanted to take a photo like this , taken around 2 am on the 6 Dec 08. here you see the Palm Island of Dubai , the palm island Jumeirah is one of the 3 huge Dubai projects , man made island in the shape of palm tree in the far end of the Island you see the New Atlantis hotel which was opened just last month , they did the world biggest fireworks show for the grand opening of this hotel , the most famous and wealthy people of this world came for the private party of the Atlantis hotel. you can see many videos on youtube of Atlantis hotel and the fireworks See these 2of the video of the fireworks of the opening of the Atlantis hotel on the palm island- Dubai HERE / HERE another / you can see many more on youtube.com to read more about the Palm islands click the image below /

Sunset in Negril, Jamaica. This whole trip for me was about learning how to compose my images. This one in particular I focused on the sun being framed between the palm trees. Taken with the “foliage” setting on my camera with just a little boost with color in digital editing to enhance it.

La Paloma Theatre, Encinitas, CA in North San Diego. The theatre opened on February 11, 1928 with the film “The Cohen’s and Kelly’s in Paris.” The event was attended by soon to be Academy Award winner Mary Pickford who rode her bike to the opening. La Paloma (The Dove) was one of the first theatres to show “Talkies.” Talking pictures premiered in 1927 with the Warner Bros. film “The Jazz Singer” starring Al Jolson. Making the transition from silent pictures to “talkies” didn’t happen over night, so La Paloma was also equipped with a beautiful pipe organ, a standard piece of theatre equipment during the Silent era. Films in the early days of motion pictures were usually preceded by a vaudeville stage act, and La Paloma was well suited for that. Over the years many performers have graced the stage of La Paloma. Musical artists as diverse as Loreena McKennitt, Nickel Creek, Ralph Stanley, Jerry Garcia and Eddie Vedder. La Paloma Theatre continues to show films regularly and is a big part of Encinitas hosting many community and City functions throughout the year. March 2009.

This one was a fun shoot, lots of lighting experiments… WIDE open aperture and strong back lighting under the palm leaf and I finally for the result I wanted, with a 2 shot HDR merge. Full moon of the 7th July 2009. Unfortunately the moon rise this evening was cloudy, didn’t show till late. Same with the Moonset :( Oh well, I’m sure it’s not going anywhere!! :) Canon 50D, 400mm. Available Large, and best viewed Large!
