  • The most famous ship in the world, Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth 2, moored in Sydney’s Circular Quay. To give her well-to-do passengers something to look at as they dined on their spatchcock entrées and awaited her departure, it was arranged to have the Sydney Opera House positioned just across the Quay. In case you’re wondering how this image would look full size, here’s a 100% crop from a section of the image:

  • / . / © Copyright 2007 David Iori Photography, All Rights Reserved. / . / Taken From Mrs Macquaries Point Mrs Macquaries Chair, otherwise known as Lady Macquarie’s Chair, provides one of the best vantage points in Sydney. The historic chair was carved out of a rock ledge for Governor Lachlan Macquarie’s wife, Elizabeth, as she was known to visit the area and sit enjoying the panoramic views of the harbour. The point offers a breathtaking view of the harbour with both the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge providing the perfect backdrop for picture taking.

  • Panoramic Composition of Sydney Harbour taken on a summer’s night. These images were taken with the white balance set at 6000K with exposures of 30 seconds. Having some clouds in the sky helped provide some texture to the image and a still night contributed to getting some nice reflections off the water. Together I think they help capture the warmth and vibrance of summer in Sydney by night. / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

  • / . / The Sydney Opera House is an expressionist modern design, with a series of large precast concrete ‘shells’, each taken from a hemisphere of the same radius, forming the roofs of the structure. The Opera House covers 1.8 hectares (4.5 acres) of land. It is 183 metres (605 feet) long and about 120 metres (388 feet) wide at its widest point. It is supported on 580 concrete piers sunk up to 25 metres below sea level. Its power supply is equivalent for a town of 25,000 people. The roofs of the House are covered with 1.056 million glossy white and matte cream Swedish-made tiles.
