Well like a few other bubblers I’m very excited about the opening of Gallery 26 Milsons Point in just 9 days! The gallery is really starting to look great – from the pics I’ve seen that is – I’ve been busy building a website! So busy in fact that now I have to run around and find a place to do framing for me – FAST. www.gallery26milsonspoint.com / / www.myspace.com/gallery26milsonspoint Stop by the websites – have a look around, and report any bugs to me :) They’re still really under construction, so I don’t expect them to be perfect yet! And if you’re on MySpace be sure to send us a friend request. Every artist in the show has a bio page on the gallery26milsonspoint.com site. If you’re an artist participating in the show, and think “hey – she hasn’t given me a page! What’s up?” Well…. that’s because you haven’t sent in your art submission yet! Send them in asap! (yeah, I can hear Sarah moaning now – I haven’t sent mine in either!) / / /

Well, I’ve posted some silly videos on YouTube, but never a serious one, and I didn’t know such things as “Honours” for a video existed – but they do! After 2 days our little video has received 6 “honour” rankings: Honors for This Video: / #33 – Most Viewed (This Week) – Travel & Events – Australia / #75 – Top Rated (This Week) – Travel & Events – Australia / #38 – Most Discussed (This Week) – Travel & Events – Australia / #26 – Top Favorites (This Week) – Travel & Events – Australia / #75 – Top Favorites (This Month) – Travel & Events – Australia / #34 – Most Linked (This Week) – Travel & Events – Australia OK, so we’re not number 1 – but at least we’re being viewed, rated, discussed, favourited and linked to! Probably all bubblers, lol :) If you haven’t already – go watch the video!

hi all this is the roster as of the above date. the roster has been converted to a google calendar click the month view for best results. If you would like to add or change your dates, please comment below. / I will update the roster, write a comment under yours and renumber the roster. It is still shown below, for now (but I will remove shortly) Please note, due to formatting, I can only show the two shifts in order 10-2 and 2-6. they are separated by a comma, eg (10-2) fred, (2-6) junior If there are two people for the same shift, I will show it as eg rob/shaun This is a volunteer basis, so firstly, let me say a big thank you for all those who have offered their time. When you are there, you get to represent a lot of artists, who may one day, due to our collective efforts, may not have to do that day job as much!!! ( wouldn’t we all love that!) The aim is that we all help out and by giving time, we gain an enjoyable experience and share our art with the public who may also purchase the art. Bearing this in mind, please remember your afternoon arrival may be gladly awaited by the morning person who has other things on. Or, that keen early morning shopper may be waiting for you to arrive at 10am-there are lots of those at this time of year! We all appreciate your efforts to keep the commitments made. If changes occur, please notify someone who can replace you (and let me know) asap. I’m sure you all do the best you can, and together, as we’ve already seen, we can make amazing things happen. So thank you again, and I look forward to a massive opening night! december 10-2, 2-6 / / Tuesday 11 marilyn , / Wednesday 12 marilyn , / Thursday 13 marilyn , / Friday 14 Anne-Marie, Lee Burgess / Saturday 15 Lee Burgess , robert/miloman# Sunday 16 #marco , easy/miloman/steve / Monday 17 sam, sam, / Tuesday 18 sam , sam / Wednesday 19 marilyn/pateena now 2-6, steve/isabella / Thursday20 marilyn , Lee Burgess / Friday 21 adriana, Anne-Marie / Saturday 22 adriana, robert/easy/mayu Sunday 23 adriana /#marco/mayu, steve/john / Monday 24 steve, Sara l/ / Tuesday 25 christmas-closed / Wednesday 26 steve/sarah m, sara l, / Thursday 27 kristin/ rose, robert / Friday 28 kristin, sara l / Saturday 29 rose/andrew, robert/sarah m Sunday 30 sara l/steve/#marco , /steve / Monday 31 steve , sara l/mayu / Tuesday Jan 1 steve, steve / Wednesday 2 kristin, / Thursday 3 kristin, robert / Friday 4 kristin , jenny/ulla / Saturday 5 , robert* Sunday 6 mayu/ #marco sometimes, steve /john / Monday 7 isabella , /isabella / Tuesday 8 / Wednesday 9 isabella, isabella / Thursday 10 kristin, / Friday 11 kristin ,

After a fairly hectic week of painting and hanging art…the night finally arrived! The Mayor of Hornsby Shire Council Nick Berman gave a great speech while Alan Cadman (Liberal Member of Mitchell for 33 years) and his wife enjoyed the art and meeting local artists. Many Redbubblers enjoyed catching up (it’s been a while)...check out the link and see if you can spot any familiar faces! There was even a surprise visit from a Melbournite (can you pick who?)...now that was a lovely surprise!! Thanks again to all the sponsors (Redbubble, on the go, Dural Beauty Care, ID Photography, Jane Hart and Bill and Sarah Photography), artists, supporters and well wishers who helped make the night such a success…and especially my mum and Daniel who without their help would have been a little lost – LOL.

The Opening Night of the Red Door Creative Galleries exhibition on Friday 24th (Sarah’s brainchild) was a resounding success. Many Redbubblers enjoyed catching up (it’s been a while)...one was even sneaky enough to catch the whole evening on time lapse photography … see here!!! It shows many familiar faces, as well as visitors from as far afield as Melbourne, Bellingin and Cootamudra … The Mayor of Hornsby opened the event with an excellent speech recognising the importance of creative activities in the area, and Alan Cadman (former Liberal Member of Mitchell for 33 years) and his wife enjoyed the art and meeting local artists. Both men privately offered their support for future events and appreciated the fact that the venture, particularly the workshops to follow, offer a healthy and rewarding hobby for young people in the area. And YES there were SALES! Among them, five out of seven of my Rust ‘n Roses series which I’d produced in miniature gold frames. A huge learning curve, and a great experience!!! / CONGRATS Sarah – and thanks to the many valient helpers.

Thought I would give you all a quick update on Red Door Creative… After the opening night we generated lots of interest and actually sold quite a few artworks! I have classes running on Thursdays for the Photography Workshops and a high level of interest for weekend workshops (which is super exciting!). I am also looking at starting up some Fine Art Classes and Social Events during the week. I am currently looking for Artists and Photographers who are willing to join the Red Door Creative Artist Co-op...this will consist of Artists, Photographers, Sponsors, Business Partners and Volunteers. A network of willing people to promote and assist Red Door Creative and you as Artists. There is no charge to become a part of the Co-op, it will rely on active participation by the artists through exhibiting, teaching, volunteering, or in whatever other ways we can help each other. We have a major exhibition/event planned each month as follows... September : Junior Art and Photography Competition October : Spring has Sprung (fine art and photography with Spring as the subject) November : Mini Bridal Expo and Wedding Photography Competition December : Small Art Market (artworks for under $100) – the art market (and concurrent exhibition) will be run at the beginning of December over an entire weekend. Starting with a twilight exhibition on Friday night and then open all day Saturday and Sunday. Artists can hire a table for a fee from Red Door to display their small works for sale. There will be no commission taken from sales off the tables, but 25% will remain on artworks hanging on the walls as we will run an exhibition on the walls for larger works concurrently. January : Photography Boot Camps (3 or 4 day intensive workshops for the holiday period for children and adults) February : Science Fiction/Fantasy Art (I am a bit excited about this one LOL) March : Fine Art of the Female Form If you are interested in participating in any of the above events please email me or call for more information. Check out some of the images from the opening night of the Spring has Sprung Exhibition.. Our fabulous display of hand developed pin hole images, taken as part of the Kids Photography Boot Camp. This was the highlight of our week as Steve helped us make the pin hole cameras from scratch, and then spent the remainder of the day perfecting the images, which proved difficult as the day was overcast and raining. We persisted though and even tried a 40 minute exposure!! The kids favourite part was watching the images come to life in the dark room (it was mine too!!) On our second day of the camp we created comic strips, the kids had to create a storyboard with their own story and then go out and take the images to suit. They really enjoyed watching their images come to life. Steve Lovegrove describing how he put together his gorgeous display of polaroids, still in their casing. Zoe and I drawing the lucky door prizes: After everyone left for the night Steve, Daniel, Zoe and I dragged some pillows up in front of the screen with drinks and nibbles, while Steve ran through the slideshow of his images. He has had an amazing career and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time picking his brain. The Exhibition runs until the end of November…so if you would like to check out some great art come and say hi! The gallery is open 10 til 2pm Wednesday to Sunday. Red Door Creative Gallery / 937 Old Northern Road, Dural Thanks to Bill for being the official photographer on the night.

A lovely albeit …
A lovely albeit quite opening night at the MLC Gallery for my first solo exhibition ‘Well Rooted’ on 4th November, 2009. I have been in a number of group exhibitions but finally held a solo one to achieve a goal I set at 9 years of age – to have a solo art exhibition. I’m now in planning for the next 2 to be held in 2010. Friends came to view the works and a few visitors (strangers to me) dropped in for a look too, which was great. And, surprisingly, I had a sale, so I am a happy girl. Special thanks go to my friend Glen Phimister who not only sponsored some of the art materials but also helped by transporting the art to the gallery. Big thank you to Glen … and also to Belinda who purchased one of my art works … and to Garrett and staff at MLC Gallery who made the experience easy to handle :) Chris PS: Here is the link to Well Rooted Exhibition on RB site for those that want to see what paintings were shown – enjoy :))
