A female lion, or lioness, prefers to hunt at night, as they have a massive advantage over many other animals, excellent night vision! They can basically stalk right up to their prey, and with minimal chase, capture them. Going straight for the throat to elimate noise and starve them of oxygen, making a quick kill. They also hunt at nights because it’s much cooler in their natural habitats in Africa. With other night predators around, making a silent kill is the key to a good feed. A pack of hungry wild dogs, like hyena, will take a kill from a lion, or even a small pride of lions. Canon 50D, 400mm. Open Plains Zoo, Dubbo, NSW.. Available Large :)

! “Open Fire!!!” was featured in the group “All About Fire” on January 1, 2009 NOTE…If you want to add some color to your campfire, this is what you can do…Cut one foot of cheap 1/2 inch garden hose, and stuff it into a copper plumbing pipe and throw it into the bottom of your fire. In no time at all it will give the various blue and green colors throughout your campfire. This was taken in Blue Lake Provincial Park in Ontario, while camping with my daughter and family last summer.
