This scaled-down replica of a World War One Nieuport fighter was seen at the 2008 Festival of Flight at Wattsbridge Airfield, Toogoolwah, Queensland, Australia. It was captured here taxiing in to its display position. It was minus its fabric covering which displayed its structure well. And no, it didn’t fly during the Festival. Presumably it will be covered at a future date. The photo was taken with a Nikon D70 camera.
A highly polished classic, a fire-breathing warplane, a naked plane running bare, personality expressed in paint, a plane outrunning a police car, cars pretending to be planes, a motorhome that used to be an aircraft and drink cans turned into plane souvenirs – these are some of the diverse and unusual within the aviation scene
Billy Bishop is officially credited with 72 victories, making him the top Canadian ace, and according to some sources, the top ace of the British Empire…. In my digital painting I am portraying Billy in his Nieuport 17 fighter which his mechanic painted the plane’s nose blue after Billy shot down his 5th enemy plane…Blue nose was the mark of an ace… More information on Billy Bishop’s career here… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Bishop
