Am dedicating this to Nichole Schoff who bmailed me about 2mths ago, requesting a cow tshirt.. i feel so bad that i took so long to do this.. So sorry, Nicole.. n_n” Introducing Schmoo!!! Schmoo’s inspired from a cow i had back when i was working as a web designer.. Schmoo was a very quiet boy.. always there beside me as i work.. he’s very soft and cuddly!! i really love it when clients visit and saw him on my table.. lolz!! believe it or not, i’ve been trying to vector this design the last 3 days, but just couldn’t get it right.. She has been altered quite a lot digitally as I was not happy with the actual original painting, I’ve taken this back to give this a vintage look. My little niece Maya is so beautiful, half Indonesian as is my other niece Indiana…gorgeous children both. After I finished this, it reminded me a bit of Maya, hence the title.

SHE IS LIKE A GIGANTIC ICE CREAM / I SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM !! / We used to live together in the same room / just like in India / or Mexico / in the villages / I was her Auntie and I lived in her room! / I remember I felt so odd telling anyone / in America about that!! / She was 10 and at night / we would giggle like kids / and her father, my brother / would come in and say / “Hey you two, quiet down” / and we would and then we would giggle / and I would say / “Alanna, / Next life I wanna be your sister”, / and she would Say / “Auntie L / Me too” / Then we would tell each other something / really funny / and then we would laugh again / but then / we would fall asleep in a room / that smelled like love / and I think that America is / behind the times. / / A little bit of nostalgia running through this drawing, with the good old love beads, i always love wearing love beads, and I still have some which are orange and lime … and another strand of blue and white. You can wear them so many different ways. The image was drawn in pencil on cartridge paper in my A3 spiral bound art journal and after photographing I coloured her digitally on the computer. Before I took the photo I actually painted her ‘love beads’ with acrylics and inks…and i stuck a fimo flower on her beads, which i made for another application, and then painted it naples yellow with a white centre.
