oil on canvas 2007 Another reworked painting… I wasn’t happy with the first incarnation. Memory tinged with fondness. Warm summer days with friends and my horses. Thoughts back to simpler times of joy and belonging, when reality hadn’t quite set in yet. When thunderstorms and a red-brown landscape filled our nights and our days.

Oil on canvas This is actually Journey Six reworked… I felt it needed a little more depth, and after some soul searching, which included a week of pneumonia and bed rest, and too much time to mull, a few more paintings went under the brush again. A collection of loves, moments and memory. A search for signposts and reason for who I am now. Memory tainted by too many years proceeding… It’s fun and innocence, edged with anxiety and fearsome entities, pieces of the puzzle missing.

Well, we got the “recently…” exhibition up today! 99% of it anyway.. A few minor things are needed here and there, cleaning the walls after my scrupulous measuring techniques laden them with all sorts of lines and paraphernalia, getting the vinyls up and looking all slick and cool, and da duh duh dummmm.. the catalogues. THE most tedious, annoying job.. burden to all, but a necessary evil. I am exhausted beyond words, as are my showmates, Jake and Ferris. / But I’m really proud of all of us. A smoother, less stressful hanging day could not have been had. Yay us. :) And the show looks awesome. You should soooooooooooo check it out. :p

Hi to all my watchers and lurkers. I have been just a little too quiet around here for a long while now. The Advanced Diploma year is in full swing, and I’m currently putting together a suite of works for an upcoming group exhibition which will open mid-May, so I have been busy! I’ve managed to document the finished* pieces I have so far, though they may or may not make it to the walls of the gallery. Please take a look, and as always, constructive criticism is very much welcome and appreciated. Oh, and I have to apologise too, for the not so great quality of the new photos.. I left my digiSLR at home and had to make do with a itty bitty point and click. *Until something bugs me too much and I have to change it. ;o)
