This Buddha is in a niche on the side of a temple spire at Ayuthaya. once there would have been hundreds, if not thousands of Buddhas adorning this ancient city. Once the capital of Siam, it was destroyed in the late 1700’s and today there are many ruins to explore.

So whenever I see limestone, (I’m a rock-deprived Yankee who brings home rocks in my luggage when I travel), I bring it home for the garden.
